Peripartum Cardiomyopathy.

open access: yesJapanese Heart Journal, 1992
Peripartum cardiomyopathy is a relatively rare complication of pregnancy, characterized by heart failure of obscure etiology during the antepartal or postpartal period. During a 10-year period in our hospital, of 36,882 women who delivered, 6 were diagnosed as having peripartum cardiomyopathy.

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Activation in Precision-Cut Bovine Liver Slices Reveals Novel Putative PPAR Targets in Periparturient Dairy Cows

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
Metabolic challenges experienced by dairy cows during the transition between pregnancy and lactation (also known as peripartum), are of considerable interest from a nutrigenomic perspective. The mobilization of large amounts of non-esterified fatty acids

An Injectable, Self‐Expanding Hemostatic Foam for Field‐Compatible Postpartum Hemorrhage Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Postpartum hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal death worldwide, yet many treatments are hard to use outside well‐equipped hospitals. This work introduces an easy‐to‐use device that rapidly delivers a degradable foam into the uterus. The foam stops bleeding through pressure and clotting support, offering a practical option for low‐resource ...

Population pharmacokinetics of levofloxacin in breastmilk in patients with rifampicin‐resistant tuberculosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Levofloxacin is a widely used antibiotic included in rifampicin‐resistant tuberculosis (RR‐TB) treatment. Data describing levofloxacin concentrations in breastmilk and infant exposure are limited. We analysed data from two South African studies of breastfeeding women receiving levofloxacin (750–1000 mg daily) for RR‐TB.

Effects of exogenous insulin supplementation on lipid metabolism in peripartum obese dairy cows

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Cows with high body condition scores experience more severe negative energy balance (NEB) and undergo mobilization of more body fat during the peripartum period, leading to more production of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) and β-hydroxybutyric acid ...
