Acute‐phase proteins, cortisol and haematological parameters in ewes during the periparturient period

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2020
AbstractNumerous subclinical diseases in sheep occur in the periparturient period and involve inflammatory processes; therefore, determining markers, such as acute‐phase proteins (APPs), can allow an early diagnosis. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to assess changes in the plasma concentration of APPs and cortisol in clinically ...

Gestational and Periparturient Periods of Sows: Serum Chemical, Hematologic, and Clinical Changes During the Periparturient Period

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1972
SUMMARY Analyses were made of serum chemical and hematologic changes of sows from 96 hours before parturition to 24 hours after parturition, and of clinical changes, from 4 days before parturition to 3 days after parturition. Serum glucose, glutamic oxalacetic transminase (got), thyroxine (T4), and 3,5,3'- triiodothyronine (T3) uptake, and plasma ...

Prediction of cow's fertility based on data recorded by automatic milking system during the periparturient period.

Reproduction in domestic animals = Zuchthygiene, 2021
The results of most studies show the beneficial effect of milking automation on production parameters of dairy cows, but its effect on fertility traits is debatable. Therefore, a study was undertaken to predict cow fertility - services per conception (SC)

Periparturient immunosuppression and strategies to improve dairy cow health during the periparturient period

Research in Veterinary Science, 2016
Common health problems observed during peripartum include milk fever, mastitis, fatty liver disease, ketosis, dystocia, retained placenta, metritis, hypomagnesaemia and abomasal displacements. The increased incidence of health problems observed during the periparturient period can be partly attributed to suboptimal immune responses.

Alterations in bovine neutrophil function during the periparturient period

American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1989
SUMMARY Neutrophils from 8 Holstein heifers were evaluated for function during the periparturient period. Random migration ingestion of bacteria, superoxide anion production, native (nonenhanced) chemiluminescence, iodination, and antibody-dependent, cell-mediated cytotoxicity by neutrophils were determined. Foremilk samples were evaluated for bacteria.

Hormone Profile of Crossbred Goats during the Periparturient Period

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2002
The plasma hormone profile of progesterone, 17 beta-oestradiol, prolactin, growth hormone (GH), cortisol, triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4) and insulin were estimated by radioimmunoassay in jugular blood samples from 10 Alpine x Beetal crossbred goats during the periparturient period.

Effect of parity on non-esterified fatty acid, oxidant/antioxidant status, and zinc and copper levels around periparturient period in Beetal goats of Himalayan Region.

Journal of animal physiology and animal nutrition, 2022
The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of parity and physiological status on non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), oxidative stress, and zinc and copper levels among the Beetal breed of goat.
