Brief Research Report: Expression of PD-1 and CTLA-4 in T Lymphocytes and Their Relationship With the Periparturient Period and the Endometrial Cytology of Dairy Cows During the Postpartum Period. [PDF]
The present study sought to evaluate the expression of PD-1 and CTLA-4 in blood T lymphocytes during the periparturient period and their relationship with uterine health in dairy cows, as determined by endometrial cytology and serum concentrations of β ...

Alterations in Skeletal Muscle mRNA Abundance in Response to Ethyl-Cellulose Rumen-Protected Methionine during the Periparturient Period in Dairy Cows. [PDF]
Simple Summary Improvements in performance around parturition by feeding ethyl-cellulose rumen-protected methionine (RPM) have been reported. Hepatic and adipose gene transcription effects have been a key focus of studies dealing with RPM. It is unknown,

Association of oxidative stress biomarkers and clinical mastitis incidence in dairy cows during the periparturient period [PDF]
The aim of this study was to determine changes of reactive oxygen species (ROS), serum antioxidant capacity (SAC), oxidative stress index (OSi), and α-tocopherol (α-T) during the periparturient period in healthy and mastitic cows and to further ...

Hepatic Cystathionine β-Synthase Activity Is Increased by Greater Postruminal Supply of Met during the Periparturient Period in Dairy Cows. [PDF]
Background Postruminal supply of Met during the periparturient period enhances production efficiency (feed conversion to milk) in dairy cows partly through alleviation of oxidant and inflammatory status. Whether alterations in hepatic 1-carbon metabolism

Serum Leptin Levels during the Periparturient Period in Cows.
Serum leptin concentrations were measured in antenatal and postnatal cows housed at two different locations. The mean serum leptin concentration was 9.2 +/- 0.6 ng/m l (n=22) in one group, and was slightly lower in the other (7.4 +/- 0.4 ng/ml, n=54), probably because of the different nutritional conditions between the two groups.

Changes in oxidative stress markers in plasma of sows during periparturient period [PDF]
The aim of the present study was to determine changes in oxidative status in plasma of sows during periparturient period using markers of lipid and protein peroxidation intensity. Plasma from 12 pregnant gilts collected on days 14 and 1 before parturition and on days 1, 7 and 14 postpartum was used in the study.

Rumen-protected choline and methionine during the periparturient period affect choline metabolites, amino acids, and hepatic expression of genes associated with one-carbon and lipid metabolism [PDF]
Feeding supplemental choline and Met during the periparturient period can have positive effects on cow performance; however, the mechanisms by which these nutrients affect performance and metabolism are unclear.

Individual animal variability in rumination, activity, and lying behavior during the periparturient period of dairy cattle. [PDF]
Graphical Abstract Summary: Peripartum behaviors (e.g., rumination, activity, lying time) of a large number of dairy cattle can now be monitored uninterruptedly. Such behaviors have been associated with peripartum health disorders and have been suggested
