Soft, Multi‐Wavelength Photoplethysmography Enables Reliable Neonatal Blood Pressure Monitoring Via Error Stratification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft hybrid multi‐wavelength PPG wearable acquires neonatal signals. Synchronized PPG and invasive ABP data are segmented into fixed windows. A 1D‐EfficientNet model predicts segment‐level SBP and DBP. Model performance is examined with retrospective subgroup analysis across acquisition conditions.

Flushing peripheral intravenous catheters: A scoping review

open access: yesPLOS One
Background Peripheral intravascular catheters (PIVCs) are indispensable vascular access devices in healthcare, facilitating the administration of intravenous therapies. Despite their vital role, PIVCs are frequently associated with complications such as occlusion, infection, and thrombosis, which contribute to catheter failure.

An Intravesical Akkermansia muciniphila‐Based Chemo‐Immunotherapeutic Platform for Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila is engineered into an intravesical F127/doxorubicin platform that couples localized chemotherapy with immune remodeling. By inducing apoptosis, ferroptosis, and immunogenic cell death, this chemo‐immunotherapeutic system enhances dendritic‐cell maturation, antigen cross‐presentation, and tumor‐specific CD8+ T‐cell ...

Flick-Spin Methodology for Improving Cannulation Success in Tortuous and Valve-Rich Peripheral Veins

open access: yesMayo Clinic Proceedings: Innovations, Quality & Outcomes, 2018
Peripheral veins often contain tortuosities and valves that hinder the effective passage of intravenous catheters to the full extent of catheter length. This report describes a methodology termed flick-spin that has proven efficacious for venous catheter

The impact of the catheter to vein ratio on peripheral intravenous cannulation success, a post-hoc analyses.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
BackgroundIntravenous cannulation is usually the first procedure performed in modern healthcare, although establishing peripheral intravenous access is challenging in some patients.

Sequential Regulation of Neurovascular Bone Regeneration in Large Bone Defects Using Black Phosphorus‐Europium Nanosheet Integrated TPMS Biomimetic Scaffold with Photo‐Controlled Ion Release

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TPBE scaffolds, in conjunction with mild photothermal effects, effectively activate the PI3K/Akt signaling cascade, thereby promoting early neuronal differentiation and neurite growth. Short‐term (12 W) in vivo implantation studies revealed no significant pathological damage to major organs, providing preliminary evidence of the material's excellent ...

Multimodal Imaging of Hypoxia, Metabolism and pH in Feline Sarcoma Using Hyperpolarized 13C MRI and PET

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a clinically deployable simultaneous PET/MRI workflow which integrates hyperpolarized 13C imaging of metabolism and extracellular pH with [18F]FMISO PET to characterize hypoxia, acidosis, and metabolic reprogramming in feline sarcoma.

Patients knowledge and experience with urinary and peripheral intravenous catheters [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Journal of Urology, 2019
Inappropriate use of urinary and intravenous catheters is still frequent. The use of catheters is associated with some serious complications, such as health care associated infections (HAIs). An efficient way to reduce HAIs is to avoid inappropriate use of catheters, but the role for patients in quality improvement initiatives is unclear.

Smartphone‐Guided Visible Light Modulation of RSNOs for Antimicrobial Activity via Controlled Nitric Oxide Release

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A light‐activated catheter insert combines antimicrobial blue light with nitric oxide release to generate complementary oxidative and nitrosative stress, producing potent broad‐spectrum antimicrobial activity. The approach achieves greater than 4‐log reductions in bacterial and fungal viability and significantly reduces Staphylococcus aureus ...
