Retinal nerve fibre layer thinning associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Diabetic Medicine, 2012Diabet. Med. 29, e106–e111 (2012)AbstractAims To investigate the relationship between retinal nerve fibre layer thickness and peripheral neuropathy in patients with Type 2 diabetes, particularly in those who are at higher risk of foot ulceration. Methods Global and sectoral retinal nerve fibre layer thicknesses were measured at 3.45 mm diameter around

Peristaltic transport in a two dimensional channel, filled with a porous medium in the peripheral region and a Newtonian fluid in the core region, is studied under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number. The fluid flow is investigated in the waveframe of reference moving with the velocity of the peristaltic wave.

The eggshells of young developmental stages in the uterus are rather thin and homogenous. In the brezel stage of Brugia malayi they are 35 nm thick and 20 nm in Litomosoides carinii. In young developmental stages up to brezel stages the eggshells bind the lectins WGA, DBA and PNA labelled with colloidal gold.

Rapid prototyping of a double-layer polyurethane-collagen conduit for peripheral nerve regeneration.
Tissue Engineering Part C: Methods, 2009A new technique for preparing double-layer polyurethane (PU)-collagen nerve conduits for peripheral nerve repair via a double-nozzle, low-temperature, deposition manufacturing (DLDM) system has been developed. The DLDM system is based on a digital prototyping approach, and uses a combination of thermally induced phase separation and freeze-drying. With

Accumulation of [35S]taurine in peripheral layers of the olfactory bulb
Brain Research, 1981Accumulation of [35S]taurine in the laminae of the olfactory bulb of the adult cat, rat, mouse and rabbit was examined autoradiographically. [35S]Taurine was administered either i.p. or i.v. and olfactory bulbs were excised 24 h post-injection. High concentrations of [35S]taurine were restricted to the olfactory nerve and glomerular layers of the ...

The varying composition of the nucleus and peripheral layers of urinary calculi
Urological Research, 1974The chemical composition of the different mineral phases in the nuclei and peripheral coatings of 200 urinary calculi was investigated by X-ray diffraction. The nuclei were found to contain 7 different substances. There was no relationship between the mineral composition of the nucleus and periphery.

Comments on "Peripheral and diffused layer effects on doping profiles"
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1974A simple method is described for the characterization of uniformly doped epitaxial layers from the capacitance-voltage measurements of a diffused p-n junction, considering the peripheral effect due to the sidewall junction and the diffused layer effect due to the depletion region in the heavily doped side of the junction.

Effects of the peripheral layers on the optical properties of spherical fish lenses
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2008We created a computational optical model of spherical fish lenses that takes into account the effects of the peripheral layers, which differ in cellular composition from the bulk of the lens. A constant refractive index, except for the lens capsule, in the outer about 6% of lens radius made it possible to uniquely infer the refractive index gradient in
