Advanced bronchoscopy for the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions.

Respiratory Investigation, 2016
Bronchoscopy to examine peripheral pulmonary lesions is performed using a bronchoscope with an outer diameter of 5-6mm under fluoroscopy, but the diagnostic yield can be insufficient. Problems with transbronchial biopsy include a limited range of bronchoscope insertion, difficulty in guiding a bronchoscope and biopsy instruments to lesions, and ...

A Virtual Bronchoscopic Navigation System for Pulmonary Peripheral Lesions

Chest, 2006
We performed ultrathin bronchoscopy for pulmonary peripheral lesions using a system that displays virtual bronchoscopy (VB) images to the lesion simultaneously with actual images and navigates the bronchoscope to the target bronchus. We then evaluated the system with regard to its usefulness and problems.A pilot study.A tertiary teaching hospital. The ...

Transbronchial needle aspiration with endobronchial ultrasonography and ultrathin bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions.

Respiratory Investigation, 2021
BACKGROUND Although the efficacy of lung cancer treatment has improved, it is dependent on a reliable diagnosis via bronchoscopy. Transbronchial biopsy using ultrathin bronchoscopy can help detect small peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs), with a high ...

Robotized Catheter With Enhanced Distal Targeting for Peripheral Pulmonary Biopsy

IEEE/ASME transactions on mechatronics, 2021
Transbronchial biopsy with a lung catheter is more appealing with lower complication risks for peripheral pulmonary biopsy. The distal tips of the current lung catheters lack targeting capabilities, however, which prevents a physician from guiding the ...

Ultrathin bronchoscopy for diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions

Respiratory Investigation, 2023
Bronchoscopes are continuously improving. Increasingly, thinner bronchoscopes with larger working channels and better imaging quality are becoming available for clinical use. Concurrently, useful ancillary devices have been developed, such as radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (rEBUS) and navigation devices.

Robotic bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions: a convergence of technologies

Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine, 2021
Purpose of review Robotic bronchoscopy is the newest advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy technology for biopsying peripheral pulmonary lesions; sensitivity for malignancy is currently suboptimal using modalities, such as radial endobronchial ultrasound or electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy.

EBUS-GS for Peripheral Pulmonary Lesions

2020
Queries raised regarding bronchoscopy to bronchoscopists dealing with respiratory diseases remain partially elucidated. With the rapid development of several new technologies, bronchoscopy has become easy for patients, taking less time and offering a high diagnostic yield to treat bronchial and pulmonary lesions precisely.

Advanced bronchoscopic techniques for the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions

Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine, 2016
The review describes recent advances in bronchoscopic modalities used to diagnose peripheral pulmonary lesions. The pooled diagnostic yield and sensitivity of radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (r-EBUS) has been reported to be 56% for lesions less than 2 cm and 78% for lesions more than 2 cm and 73%, respectively.
