Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters and Hemodialysis Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, 2016
Background and objectives Use of peripherally inserted central catheters has expanded rapidly, but the consequences for patients who eventually require hemodialysis are undefined. Design, setting, participants, & measurements Our national, population–based analysis included 33 ...

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Fibrin sheath of a peripherally inserted central catheter undepicted with gray-scale (real-time B-mode) ultrasonography: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2018
An 11-year-old male was admitted to our hospital with the acute exacerbation of chronic heart failure. A peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) was inserted from the left forearm.

The establishment and evaluation of rabbit model for peripherally inserted central catheter [PDF]

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2014
PURPOSE:To establish a model to simulate the clinical specific process of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) on rabbits, and detect how long the catheter can be indwelled.METHODS:Seventeen healthy New Zealand white rabbits were inserted the ...

Variations in peripherally inserted central catheter use and outcomes in Michigan hospitals

open access: yes, 2016
Use of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) has grown substantially in hospitalized medical patients. However, data regarding PICC placement largely originate from single-center experiences or studies of highly select populations and outcomes.

Inhibition of KDEL Receptors Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment for T Cell Independent Tumor Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhibition of KDELR2 in a small fraction of tumor cells generates sustainable immunogenic cell death conditions within the tumor microenvironment. These conditions promote the regression of tumors in a T cell independent manner. During regression, macrophages prime T cells that subsequently provide systemic protection against recurrence. The potency of

Ultra‐Radiostable Covalent Conformationally Interlocked Networks Enabling a Universal Radiometal‐Labeling Platform for Cancer Radioembolization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conjugated poly(imide dioxime)‐based microspheres establish a radiometal coordination‐driven conformational interlocked network with ultra‐high radiostability. This platform enables low‐temperature, multi‐radionuclide labeling for SPECT/PET/MRI imaging and radionuclide therapy. Mechanistic insights from EXAFS and DFT reveal enhanced stability, while in

Vascular injury due to a peripherally inserted central catheter in a neonate born during the 24th week of gestation

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2022
We investigated a case of a peripherally inserted central venous catheter associated with iliolumbar venous extravasation in an infant. Hyperosmolar infusion and calcium gluconate caused phlebitis and vascular perforation.

Preoperative Gemcitabine/Nab‐Paclitaxel With Concurrent Radiation Therapy for Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer: A Comparative Analysis With Preoperative Chemoradiation Therapy Using Gemcitabine Alone

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although NCCN guidelines recommend preoperative therapy for borderline resectable pancreatic cancer (BR‐PC), it is still unclear which regimen is better. The study objective was to elucidate the prognostic significance of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) with gemcitabine/nab‐paclitaxel (GnP‐RT) compared to gemcitabine alone ...
