Diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) remains a real challenge to the orthopedic community. Currently, there is no single standard definition for PJI. This communication presents the diagnostic criteria that have been proposed by a workgroup convened by the Musculoskeletal Infection Society.
