On the Peristaltic Transport in Small-Knudsen-Number Flow

Meccanica, 2000
The authors show that the mean streamwise distribution (averaged over time) due to the peristaltic motion in the case of free pumping is dominated by \(R_0\) (or \(K_n\)), which allow to determine the boundary value \(D_y\) of the \(y\)-gradient of the first-order streamwise velocity distribution.

Interaction of peristaltic flow with pulsatile flow in a circular cylindrical tube

Journal of Biomechanics, 1985
The effect of pulsatile flow on peristaltic transport in a circular cylindrical tube is analysed. The flow of a Newtonian viscous incompressible fluid in a flexible circular cylindrical tube on which an axisymmetric travelling sinusoidal wave is imposed, is considered.

Peristaltic Pump with Continuous Flow and Programmable Flow Pulsation

2020 IEEE 8th Electronics System-Integration Technology Conference (ESTC), 2020
In future, sensors with flexible electronics will be deployed more often in biomedical applications for the acquisition of biological signals in the human body. To ensure biocompatibility, these sensors are often encapsulated by polymers. For research and testing of new encapsulation materials and their biocompatibility evaluation, new test procedures ...

Peristaltic flow of a Casson fluid in an annulus

Korea-Australia Rheology Journal, 2012
Peristaltic transport of a non-Newtonian fluid through the annular gap between two coaxial tubes is studied. We assumed that the inner tube is rigid whereas the outer tube has sinusoidal wave travelling down its wall. We modelled the flowing fluid as a Casson fluid to study the combined effects of yield stress (plug width) and annular gap on ...

Peristaltic flow of a Bingham fluid in a channel

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2017
Abstract We study the peristaltic transport of a Bingham fluid in a channel with small aspect ratio whose walls behave as a periodic traveling wave. The governing equations in the unyielded phase are obtained writing the integral formulation for the momentum balance. As shown in Fusi et al.

Peristaltically Driven Flows for Micro-Mixers

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), 1998
Abstract Flows driven by a transverse travelling wave, propagating along a boundary of a closed rectangular container are examined, motivated by mixing with applications in MEMS. The steady, time-independent flow is computed analytically in the asymptotic limit of high frequencies and the boundary-layer structure is described.

Ureteral Peristaltic Flows in the Presence of Microliths: A Review

Critical Reviews in Biomedical Engineering
A detailed review is presented on research contributions in peristaltic transport in the human ureter in the presence of microliths. The studies reviewed are differentiated based on methodologies deployed, namely analytical, numerical and CFD simulation techniques and also experimental (clinical) investigations.

Endoscopic Effects on Peristaltic Flow of a Nanofluid

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2011
In the present investigation we have studied the peristaltic flow of a nanofluid in an endoscope. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave c. Analytical solutions have been calculated using Homotopy perturbation method (HPM) for temperature and nanoparticle equation while exact solutions have been ...
