Bromelain as the enzyme of the future: A global bibliometric mapping of its applications and emerging trends

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Bromelain, a complex mixture of proteolytic enzymes primarily extracted from plants of the Bromeliaceae family, has gained prominence because of its broad industrial applicability, particularly in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.

Morbidity and Mortality of Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Patients Aged 70 Years and Older: A Two‐Center 10‐Year Experience

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is established for peritoneal surface malignancies, but its use in older patients is debated. We assessed CRS‐HIPEC morbidity and mortality in patients aged ≥ 70 years using a cohort of younger patients as a comparator.

Chronic Kidney Disease‐Associated Pruritus Is Linked to Selective Enrichment of Taurine‐Conjugated Bile Acid Subspecies

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Chronic kidney disease‐associated pruritus (CKDaP) is a frequent complication of advanced CKD with an incompletely understood pathophysiology. We identified a significantly altered glycine‐to‐taurine conjugated bile acid ratio in patients with CKDaP despite unchanged total serum bile acid concentrations.

Synthesis of Microbial‐Derived Octadecanoids

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
C18‐carbon containing dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (e.g., linoleic acid, α‐linolenic acid, and γ‐linolenic acid) are metabolized by bacteria in the gut into oxygenated lipid mediators termed octadecanoids. To study the biological function of these compounds, we report here the chemical synthesis of multiple octadecanoids.

Analysis of Carbohydrates and Glycoconjugates by Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry: An Update for 2023–2024

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of MALDI mass spectrometry for the analysis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates is a well‐established technique and this comprehensive review is the twelfth update of the original article published in 1999 and brings coverage of the literature to the end of 2024.

Organoid Coculture Models for Cancer Research and Immunotherapy

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes organoid coculture platforms, including submerged Matrigel culture, air–liquid interface, microfluidic/organoid‐on‐a‐chip, and 3D bioprinting, for reconstructing the tumor microenvironment to study tumor–stroma/immune crosstalk, evaluate immunotherapies, and enable drug screening.
