PERITONEO‐VENOUS SHUNTS FOR MALIGNANT ASCITES

Radionuclide Assessment of Peritoneo-venous Shunt Patency
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1979LeVeen shunt patency can be easily assessed by sequential scintigraphy with a gamma camera after an intraperitoneal injection of Tc-99m-macroaggregated albumin (Tc-99m-MAA). If the shunt is patent, the particles of MAA reach the pulmonary capillary bed and the lungs are visualized.

Peritoneo-vulvar catheter extrusion after shunt operation
Child's Nervous System, 1996We report an unusual case of catheter extrusion through the external genitalia. between the labium majus and the labium minus, in a 6-month-old hydrocephalic baby. The event occurred 5 months after placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt.

[Peritoneo-gluteal suppurative hidradenitis].
Presse medicale (Paris, France : 1983), 1988Perineo-gluteal hidradenitis suppurativa, or Verneuil's disease, consists of infected and more or less fistulized lesions unconnected with the anal canal, dermo-epidermal nodule and diffuse subcutaneous infiltration. The disease is chronic with acute episodes and periods of stabilization and it interferes with the patient's daily life.

[Congenital abnormalities of the peritoneo-vaginal process].
Pediatrie, 1987The different clinical manifestations resulting from abnormalities of the development of the peritoneovaginal process are reviewed: inguinal hernias, abnormal testicular descent, herniated ovary, hydrocele of the tunica vaginalis, hydrocele of the spermatic cord. The pathogenesis is studied on the basis of the embryology of the vaginal processus.
