We report a case of tuberculous peritonitis in a 24-year-old male patient. On admission, he was complaining of abdominal fullness and fever. Ultrasound tomography and computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen showed massive ascites with multiple septa.

The cytohistology in 82 cases diagnosed as malignant peritoneal mesothelioma was correlated with available clinical and gross pathologic information. The cases were then evaluated as to ceratainty of diagnosis. The material had come from a large number of sources, most of it having been traced by a history of occupational exposure to asbestos.

An unusual case of widespread peritoneal fibrosis of unknown cause ("sclerosing peritonitis") is described. The patient presented with ascites and bowel obstruction and was found to have numerous fibrous plaques involving primarily the serosa of the small bowel.
