Trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) of some marine fishes from coastal regions of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea

open access: closedSystematic Parasitology, 2001
Five species of marine fishes, including two of the main maricultured fishes from coastal regions of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, were examined for ectoparasitic trichodinids. A total of five species of trichodinids belonging to three genera, Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1830, Paratrichodina Lom, 1963 and Trichodinella Srámek-Husek, 1953 were reinvestigated ...

Two New Species of Epistylis (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) on the Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus) in the Gulf of Mexico

open access: closedJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, 2006
ABSTRACT. Two epibiotic peritrichs infested the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, from the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi, USA. Epistylis callinectes n. sp. was isolated from the epipods of maxillipeds, bases of gill‐cleaning setae, and gills, and Epistylis clampi n. sp. was isolated from the exterior surfaces of the exoskeleton.

Trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) of some River Nile fish, Egypt.

Parasitology International, 2000
Four species of trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) were collected from the gills of the following River Nile fish in Egypt: Hydrocynus forskalii, Mormyrus kannume, Schilbe mystus. These species are: Trichodina heterodentata Duncan, 1977, Trichodina fahaka sp. n., Trichodinella epizootica Raabe, 1950, Tripartiella dactylodentata sp. n.

open access: possibleSystematic Parasitology, 1994
During 1988 parasitological surveys were carried out on the freshwater fish fauna on the island of Taiwan in 12 localities that included fishery stations, reservoirs, fish markets as well as natural rivers and swamps. A total of 28 fish species were examined, representing 14 families.

Cell proliferation and growth inZoothamnium niveum (Oligohymenophora, Peritrichida) — Thiotrophic bacteria symbiosis

Symbiosis, 2009
Chemolithoautotrophic, sulphide-oxidizing (thiotrophic) symbioses represent spectacular adaptations to fluctuating environmental gradients and survival is often accomplished when growth is fuelled by sufficient nourishment through the symbionts leading to fast cell proliferation.

Trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) from the gills of cultured marine fishes in China, with the description of Trichodinella lomi n. sp.

Systematic Parasitology, 1999
Three species of cultured percoids, each heavily infested by trichodinid ectoparasites, were examined from over-wintering pools in Qingdao, China during the winter of 1995. A total of five species of trichodinids belonging to three genera, Trichodinella Sramek-Husek, 1953, Dipartiella Shtein, 1961 and Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1838 were recorded.
