A Case of Malignant PEComa of the Uterus Associated with Intramural Leiomyoma and Endometrial Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2016
Perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) refers to a family of mesenchymal neoplasms composed of angiomyolipomas, clear cell “sugar” tumors of the lung, and lymphangioleiomyomatoses.

Primary Pulmonary Mesenchymal Neoplasm With EWSR1::CREM Fusion: Cytologic Findings and Molecular Diagnosis

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Primary pulmonary mesenchymal neoplasms with EWSR1::CREM fusion are rare. These lesions are challenging to diagnose by morphology and immunohistochemistry alone. Case A 66‐year‐old woman (ex‐smoker) was found to have a 1.3‐cm right lower lobe lung nodule that had grown very slowly over a 9‐year period.

Mapping the Tissue Architecture and Endothelial‐PEC Network in HAML Using Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Spatial multi‐omics mapping of hepatic angiomyolipoma reveals that PEComas tightly co‐localize with endothelial cells, which drive autophagic flux in adjacent tumor cells via a paracrine PDGFD–PDGFRB–Ras axis, establishing a compensatory survival network that operates in parallel to canonical TSC–mTOR defects.

Out of the Ordinary, but Not Out of the Question: Atypia in Pancreatic Lesions Is Not Always Carcinoma

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
An incidental pancreatic lesion in a 69‐year‐old woman was sampled by EUS‐guided fine‐needle biopsy. Integrated cytopathological and histopathological evaluation with immunochemical staining supported organ‐preserving surgery. ABSTRACT Pancreatic perivascular epithelioid cell tumours (PEComas) are exceptionally rare mesenchymal neoplasms.

Primary perivascular epithelioid cell tumor of the liver not related to hepatic ligaments: hepatic PEComa as an emerging entity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Primary perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa) of the liver is a very rare example of an emerging family of hepatic PEC tumors. Only few cases have been described so far.

Novel and emerging cutaneous soft tissue tumours

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
This review outlines the defining histopathological, immunophenotypic and molecular features of novel and emerging cutaneous soft tissue tumours, including hybrid superficial ALK‐rearranged myxoid spindle cell neoplasm/epithelioid fibrous histiocytoma, superficial neurocristic tumour, ALK‐rearranged epithelioid vascular neoplasm and MITF pathway ...
