Improved cardiac risk stratification in individuals with high risk plaque features using the perivascular fat attenuation index on CCTA

open access: yesScientific oral presentations, 2021
Introduction High-risk plaque (HRP) features on coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) are indicators of increased cardiac risk. Coronary inflammation induces spatial changes in perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) composition, which can be quantified with the perivascular Fat Attenuation Index (FAI).

Contribution of Gli1+ Adventitial Stem Cells to Smooth Muscle Cells in Atherosclerosis and Vascular Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gli1+ adventitial stem cells (ASCs) have been thought to generate smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis. Using a dual‐recombinase lineage tracing to exclude ectopic labeling, Wang et al. found that Gli1+ ASCs do not contribute to SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques.

A DNA Tetrahedron Delivery Asiatic Acid to Reprogram Mitochondrial Metabolism for Promoting Bone Regeneration via STAT3 Phosphorylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hyaluronic acid methacrylate (HAMA) hydrogel incorporating DNA tetrahedrons loaded with Asiatic acid (TDN@AA) was developed. HM‐TDN@AA promotes angiogenesis of endothelial cells (ECs), inhibits osteoclastogenesis from bone marrow–derived macrophages (BMDMs), and enhances osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) via STAT3‐mediated mitochondrial ...

Usefulness of fat attenuation index in postmortem CT for identifying responsible vessels in acute coronary syndromes: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Postmortem imaging, particularly unenhanced postmortem computed tomography (PMCT), has been increasingly utilized for pathological or judicial examination as a substitute for conventional autopsy, to compensate very low autopsy rates.

Somatic PDGFRB activating variants in fusiform cerebral aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The role of somatic genetic variants in the pathogenesis of intracranial-aneurysm formation is unknown. We identified a 23-year-old man with progressive, right-sided intracranial aneurysms, ipsilateral to an impressive cutaneous phenotype.

The histopathological correlate of peri-vascular adipose tissue attenuation on computed tomography in surgical ascending aorta aneurysms: Is this a measure of tissue inflammation? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
On computed tomography (CT) imaging, a peri-vascular adipose tissue attenuation (pVAT) measure has been proposed as a non-invasive correlate of inflammation in the coronary artery vessels, and a single research group provided histopathological ...

Nanomaterial‐based immune therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights the immunomodulatory potential of nanomaterials (NMs) in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). It focuses on their roles in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses to maintain immune homeostasis. By providing insights into these mechanisms, the review lays the groundwork for innovative NMs therapeutic strategies to ...

Phase‐Change Assembling Nanostructures Synergistically Potentiate Tumor Radiosensitivity by Reducing the Stemness of Cancer Stem‐Like Cells

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
A eutectic phase‐change mixture of natural fatty acids was introduced to serve as a gating material for the near‐infrared‐triggered precise release of oxygen and nitroimidazole radiosensitizer in tumors. The stemness of cancer stem‐like cells was shown to be significantly reduced through the delivery of oxygen to deep tumors.

Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) Findings in COVID-19

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
(1) Background: The novel SARS-CoV-2 virus infects the endothelium. Vasculitis may lead to specific coronary artery wall lesions. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging findings have not been systematically reported. The aim of this study
