Reflecting on the Tenure Track From Mid‐Career
Abstract In this essay, I share ideas on why and how my career has worked for me. I have built a research program around the intersections of the carbon and water cycles with a particular focus on sustainable rice production. Throughout the essay, I include some of the lessons I wish I had discovered sooner.

ABSTRACT The clogging of bridges by loose sediments is a phenomenon that has so far been little studied in the literature but plays a decisive role in determining the spatial distribution of hazards in mountainous areas affected by these events. Lacking a systematic approach, in this paper, we propose a simple scheme describing the physics of bridge ...

Abstract Megantereon was a widespread saber‐toothed felid from the Pliocene and Pleistocene of the Old World and North America, but its rarity in the fossil record makes it complicated to restore its life appearance. Lack of complete specimens makes it necessary to combine information from fossils of different individuals to reconstruct their facial ...

Observing Fine‐Scale Lake Ice‐Out Dynamics in the Lower Kuskokwim River Basin, Alaska
In this study, we use 10 m Sentinel‐2 satellite imagery to assess fine‐scale patterns in lake ice‐out timing in 145 955 lakes as small as 0.001 km2 in the Lower Kuskokwim River Basin in southwest Alaska over 2018–2023. Lake ice‐out timing varies by nearly one month during our six‐year period, driven primarily by spring air temperature.

Lake changes and their driving factors in circum-arctic permafrost regions from 1990 to 2022
The rapid increase in temperatures and escalating human activities have led to a reduction or even disappearance of the thickness of the permafrost layer around the Arctic.
