We investigated the water chemistry of springs from different landforms in high‐elevation Alpine catchments. Only in predisposing lithological settings, springs from landforms most likely influenced by ice had a poor water quality with high dissolved concentrations of metals.

Abstract This study presents a methodological framework for estimating electromagnetic wave velocities in ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) data based exclusively on the analysis of diffractions. The approach integrates diffraction separation using the plane wave destruction algorithm and subsequent velocity refinement through the residual diffraction ...

Permafrost Degradation Induces the Abrupt Changes of Vegetation NDVI in the Northern Hemisphere
Permafrost, widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere, plays a vital role in regulating heat and moisture cycles within ecosystems. In the last four decades, due to global warming, permafrost degradation has accelerated significantly in high ...

ABSTRACT Across circumpolar permafrost regions, climate change is destabilizing ice‐rich hillslopes, increasing the frequency and magnitude of thaw‐driven mass wasting. This paper reviews recent studies (2013–2024) on thaw‐driven mass wasting, focusing on the processes, morphology and trajectories of geomorphic change and their implications for ...

Oceans governance in the Arctic [PDF]
Global warming is bringing rapid change to the Arctic. The melting of sea ice and glaciers is increasing faster than scientists predicted even a year ago.

An Initial Estimate of the Cost of Lost Climate Regulation Services Due to Changes in the Arctic Cryosphere [PDF]
Outlines how arctic sea ice and snow cover help maintain the global climate and ecosystems, the impact of changes in sea and land reflectivity and methane emissions, research on the social cost of carbon, and the estimated economic cost of climate ...

ABSTRACT The amount and stratigraphic setting of ground ice in permafrost slopes is a key control on the style and magnitude of permafrost mass wasting. Understanding the spatial and stratigraphic variations in ground ice distribution on permafrost slopes is therefore a fundamental property in assessing the stability of permafrost hillslopes.
