Permanent Magnet Generator Designing Guidelines

2007 International Conference on Power Engineering, Energy and Electrical Drives, 2007
This paper discusses the requirements set to permanent magnet generators directly connected to electrical network especially when used in hydro electric plants. The influences of the requirements on the permanent magnet generator design parameters are discussed.

Permanent-Magnet Generators

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1963
Based on the theory of permanent-magnet generators piresented in Part I,1 design equations are derived for the short-circuit stabilized generator, and it is shown that the design may be optimized to yield the smallest machine for given specifications. A relationship between short-circuit current and inherent voltage regulation is given.

Permanent magnet planar micro-generators

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2006
Abstract Different types of axial-flux permanent magnet electromagnetic μ-generators have been developed in LEG in collaboration with Laboratoire d’Electronique de Technologie de l’Information (LETI), CEA Grenoble. A O8 mm planar generator consists of a permanent magnet disc rotor cut out of bulk SmCo5 or NdFeB, and a silicon stator with ...

Short-Circuit Analysis of Permanent-Magnet Generators

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2009
Permanent-magnet generators (PMGs) have rapidly become important in renewable energy systems, portable and standby generating systems, and in many new applications in industrial, utility, aerospace, and automotive sectors. While there has been some discussion of “fault tolerance” and fault testing of an 8-MW machine has recently been reported [1 ...

Study on permanent magnet thickness of high-speed permanent magnet generator

Electrical Engineering, 2019
The permanent magnet thickness (PMT) is an important parameter in the design of the permanent magnet machine, and it directly affects the air-gap magnetic field and performance of generator. In this paper, a 117-kW, 60,000-rpm, high-speed permanent magnet generator (HSPMG) is taken as an example, and a two-dimensional finite element model (FEM) is ...

Compact Permanent-Magnet Generator for Hybrid Vehicle Applications

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2004
In hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) drive-trains an electrical generator is coupled onto the shaft of an internal-combustion engine (ICE) in order to process either the entire or a given fraction of the traction power required by the vehicle wheels.

Brushless dc generator without permanent magnet

SPEEDAM 2010, 2010
This paper presents characteristic analysis of a without permanent magnet Brushless dc (WPMBLDC) generator. Proposed configuration is a 9/6 BLDC generator in which permanent magnet is replaced with assisted field coil in the rotor. Due to dc current in the assistant field winding, the magnetic field flows axially through the rotor shaft and closes ...

Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Controlled Generator

2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS), 2018
This paper deals with axial flux permanent magnet generator with extended functionality which allows to control magnetic flux to change output voltage and stabilize external characteristics of generator. A mathematical model of electrical machine in the coordinate system (d-q) was obtained to simulate transients and external characteristics in Matlab ...

Induced pole permanent magnet synchronous generator

2017 International Symposium on Electrical Machines (SME), 2017
The design of an induced pole permanent magnet generator by retrofitting an induction motor is shown. The geometry was parameterized in order to explore the complete design panorama with the finite element method. The highest back EMF case was chosen and manufactured. The experimental results are analyzed and compared with the simulations.

Modular, permanent-magnet wind-turbine generators

IAS '96. Conference Record of the 1996 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Thirty-First IAS Annual Meeting, 2002
Multipole, permanent-magnet, synchronous machines have been proposed as direct-coupled generators for large grid-connected wind turbines. A manufacturer would need to prepare a wide range of detailed designs and stock a large quantity of parts and materials to cover the range of likely sizes and ratings needed. Modular construction greatly reduces this
