Interaction‐Driven Assembly Pathways in Heterogeneous Active Microrobotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Peanut‐ and cube‐shaped light‐powered microrobots exhibit distinct magnetic and photocatalytic responses that determine their heterogeneous self‐assembly. In the dark, magnetic dipole interactions drive colloidal copolymerization with cubes acting as nucleation centers, whereas under light irradiation, phoretic interactions compete with magnetic ...

Performance enhancement of PMSM using a hybridizing of nonlinear backstepping control and an optimized linear quadratic regulator

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation
An important characteristic of permanent magnet synchronous machines is that they are extremely efficient due to the absence of rotor losses, such as in induction motors, and the use of permanent magnets for field excitation.

The Research of Sensorless Vector Control for Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor

open access: yesJournal of Computers, 2013
Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor has been used widely in the industrial application and transportation system. However, a need of mechanical sensors is a drawback for its control system, which restricts the application range seriously. In order to solve the above drawback, the sensorless vector control method was proposed in the paper.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Improvement of Cogging Thrust in Permanent‐Magnet‐Type Linear Synchronous Motors

open access: yesElectrical Engineering in Japan, 2013
SUMMARYThis paper presents a method for reducing cogging thrust in permanent‐magnet‐type linear synchronous motors. A phase shift method and supplement tooth method are proposed. The methods do not affect the original thrust performance of the linear motor, nor do they greatly modify its basic shape.

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...
