Overview of Stator-Permanent Magnet Brushless Machines

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2011
Permanent magnet (PM) brushless machines having magnets and windings in stator (the so-called stator-PM machines) have attracted more and more attention in the past decade due to its definite advantages of robust structure, high power density, high efficiency, etc.

COMPACT PERMANENT-MAGNET MACHINES

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1997
ABSTRACT The availability of new high-field permanent-magnet materials has created opportunities for novel topologies of electrical machines with advantageous characteristics such as high efficiency and good power/weight ratio. A disc-type arrangement, with slotless winding and axially-directed flux in the air gap, has particularly short axial length ...

Permanent-magnet machines

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1997
This paper explores the use of an interior permanent-magnet synchronous machine (IPM) as a source of controlled DC power. A three-phase diode rectifier converts the generated AC power into DC, which is further processed by a buck or boost DC-DC converter with a pulse-width modulation voltage controller for load voltage and output power regulation.

Vernier Machines with Azimuthally Magnetized Permanent Magnets

2021 17th Conference on Electrical Machines, Drives and Power Systems (ELMA), 2021
This paper complements a study initially made by the authors [1] on double stator vernier machines by introducing a dynamic simulation and presents the results of simulation of vernier machines, having flux concentration magnetization pattern of permanent magnets in Matlab/Simulink.

On the Speed Limits of Permanent-Magnet Machines

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2010
Permanent-magnet (PM) machines are considered the most suitable machine type for very high speed applications. Still, due to the growing demand for the ever higher rotational speeds, PM machines are approaching their limits. The focus of this paper is the different factors that lie behind the inherent speed limitations of PM machines.
