Design of Low-Cost Synchronous Machine to Prevent Demagnetization

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The request for high efficiency motor paves the way for the replacement of induction motors with permanent magnet synchronous motors. Although the efficiency is increased, for medium and high power, the current ripple causes significant additional losses

Permanent Magnet minimization in PM-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance motors for wide speed range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a technique to modify the rotor lamination of a permanent-magnet-assisted synchronous reluctance motor, in order to reduce the magnet volume with no side effect on performance.

Permanent magnets synchronous machines faults detection and identification

open access: yesIECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
The reported work is the design of a Fault Detection system for permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). Two main faults occurring on these machines are identified as inter-turns short-circuits and rotor single pole demagnetization, and characterized. An analytical model of the PMSM is developed and simulated using Matlab Simulink.
