Indirect determination of rooting depth and permanent wilting point
Ecological Modelling, 1984Abstract The relationship between production, rooting depth, permanent wilting point, soil water content and soil temperature was modeled. We hypothesized that shoot production would not be significantly correlated with soil water contents below permanent wilting or with soil water at depths below the rooting zone.

Abstract Recent studies have shown that the permanent wilting point is influenced by soil properties and plant drought-tolerance mechanisms. This study was designed to evaluate the soil matric potential at which the biological wilting point (BWPplant) of wheat and barley cultivars occurs compared to the classic concept of the permanent wilting point ...

The relationship between surface fractal dimension and soil water content at permanent wilting point
Geoderma, 2009Abstract Permanent wilting point (PWP) is an important soil water parameter available from the soil water retention curve. Soil water content held at 1500 kPa determines plant survival or death. Recently, the application of fractal geometry concepts has been widely used for modeling soil and its hydraulic properties (e.g.

Abstract Soil field capacity (FC) and permanent wilting point (PWP) are significant parameters in numerous biophysical models and agricultural activities. Although these parameters can be measured directly, their measurements are quite expensive. The purpose of this study was to develop a hybrid Support Vector Machine (SVM) combined with Firefly ...

Field capacity (FC) and permanent wilting point (PWP) are important physical properties for evaluating the available soil water storage, as well as being used as input variables for related agro-hydrological models. Direct measurements of FC and PWP are time consuming and expensive, and thus, it is necessary to develop related pedotransfer functions ...

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the performance of pedotransfer functions generated by Radial Base Function (RBF) Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to estimate soil water retention at field capacity (FC, suction at −30 kPa) and Permanent Wilting Point (PWP, −1500 kPa) for soils at PROJIR area -RJ/BR.

Soil field capacity (FC) and permanent wilting point (PWP) are important input parameters in many bio- physical models. Although these parameters can be mea- sured directly, their measurement is quite difficult and expensive. Pedotransfer functions (PTFs) provide an alternative by estimating soil parameters from more readily available soil data.

SIMPLE DEVICE FOR ESTIMATING SOIL WATER CONTENT AT PERMANENT WILTING POINT
Acta Horticulturae, 2003For irrigation management, soil water content at permanent wilting point is generally estimated by the soil water content at -1.5 MPa (W 15 ). However, the measurement of W 15 needs a special device whereas its estimation needs to know some characteristics of the soil.

Field capacity (FC) and permanent wilting point (PWP) are two important properties of the soil when the soil moisture is concerned. Since the determination of these parameters is expensive and time-consuming, this study aims to develop and evaluate a new hybrid of artificial neural network model coupled with a whale optimization algorithm (ANN-WOA) as ...
