Soil-water characteristic curves and related properties of disturbed forest soils
Forest logging activities negatively affect various soil properties. In this study, we focus on the logging effects on soil water retention and associated pore size distribution.

The Feasibility of Household Food Waste Reduction in Finland: Insights From Five Consumer Profiles
ABSTRACT We apply a household production framework to analyse how changes in cooking skills, waste‐abatement costs and wage rates influence the food waste behaviour of five consumer profiles in Finland. We find that achieving a given reduction in food waste through skill‐enhancing interventions induces larger behavioural adjustments than equivalent ...

Hemipteran vectors of stylet‐borne plant viruses: Aphids lead the charge
Among all sap‐feeding hemipterans, aphids stand out by far as the most important vectors of noncirculative plant viruses. Compared to whiteflies and mealybugs, aphids’ highly specialized stylet anatomy and distinct feeding behaviors contribute, together with other features of their biology, to their remarkable efficiency in transmitting stylet‐borne ...

Abstract Women's inclusion is now the norm in global and local initiatives to combat climate change. We examine how women's representation affects climate deliberations using the case of community‐managed forests in Malawi. We run a lab‐in‐the‐field experiment randomly varying the gender composition of six‐member groups asked to deliberate on policies ...

Bacteriomes, cryptic forms and evolution of a common wireworm pest species, Hypnoidus bicolor
Wireworms are important agricultural pests, including Hypnoidus bicolor in the Canadian Prairies. Parthenogenetic and sexual populations of H. bicolor appear associated with different molecular clades. Bacterial community composition and structure were influenced by developmental stage, sampling location and host genetics.

Effect of Endophytic Fungi on Thrips tabaci Development and Population Dynamics
ABSTRACT Endophytic fungi are promising biocontrol agents because they colonise healthy plant tissues asymptomatically while inducing systemic resistance that negatively affects herbivorous insects. We investigated whether treatments with the endophytes Trichoderma harzianum and Beauveria bassiana in two onion cultivars (Allium cepa L.; Sturon and Red ...
