The effect of endotoxin on the alveolocapillary permeability coefficient in the dog

Journal of Surgical Research, 1972
The present experiments, in contrast to the conclusions of Harrison et al. [3] indicate that endotoxin in LD90 dose causes direct damage to the canine alveolocapillary membrane with an increase of permeability. The effect is readily apparent in both plasma-perfused hypoxic lungs and whole-blood-perfused oxygenated lungs.

Experimental Determination of Permeability Coefficient

2017
The article exposes a new concept of structural (partition, construction pit, the road network, etc.) permeability coefficient which is different from the concept of the material permeability coefficient. Substantiation of the differences of those concepts is given.

Coefficient of Permeability Determined By Measurable Parameters

Groundwater, 2001
Abstract Selection of a coefficient of permeability or the hydraulic conductivity in practical situations has required a fair amount of judgment and the expectation of accuracy can range over an order of magnitude. A determination of the coefficient based on measurable characteristics would greatly reduce the judgment aspect.

Determination of Permeability Coefficients for Geotextiles

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1981
Abstract This paper recommends the use of the ASTM Test for Air Permeability of Textile Fabrics (D 737) in determining the coefficient of water permeability for geotextiles (that is, civil engineering filter fabrics). The article explains the theory and experimental data that result in this determination.

On the Determination of Darcy Permeability Coefficients for a Microporous Tissue Scaffold

Tissue Engineering Part C: Methods, 2010
Structural characterization of porous tissue scaffolds is challenging due to their complexity. Most investigators report the porosity of the material together with an estimate of the mean pore size and the pore size distribution. The usefulness of these measures is limited, especially in predicting the time-dependent permeation characteristics of a ...

Hydraulic permeability coefficients of individual human erythrocytes

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1978
The hydraulic permeability coefficients of individual human erythrocytes were calculated from their rate of swelling to hemolysis as observed using microcinéphotography. Cells suspended in 10 mM Tris–HCl buffered Ringer solution (pH 7.40, 310 mosmol) were hemolyzed with hypotonic NaCl solutions ranging from 20 to 100 mosmol.

permeability coefficient in Darcy’s filtration law

Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2013
Using the equation of living forces averaged over the volume of the filter and obtained from the Navier-Stokes equations of an incompressible fluid, an analytical formula for the permeability coefficient in the classical Darcy problem is derived to within the principal terms of the Poiseuille number.

Predicting of Permeability Coefficient for Compacted Clay

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Permeability coefficients of three compacted clay samples are measured by using Transient Water Release and Imbitions Method which is shortly named as TRIM. The curve between permeability coefficient and suction is obtained, the results of tests show that the permeability coefficient decreases in nonlinear trend along with the increasing of suction ...

Method for Determining the Coefficient of Permeability of Clays

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2003
Abstract A new method for directly determining the coefficient of permeability of clays from the constant rate of strain consolidation tests was proposed by Yoshikuni et al. (1995). In order to confirm the reliability of this method, the constant rate of strain consolidation tests under three kinds of strain rates were carried out on ...
