Negative index materials: at the frontier of macroscopic electromagnetism

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Physique, 2020
The notions of negative refraction and negative index, introduced by V. Veselago more than 50 years ago, have appeared beyond the frontiers of macroscopic electromagnetism and purely formal during 30 years, until the work of J.

INFLUENCE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION ON THE PERMEABILITY OF ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANES

open access: yesCrimea Journal of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, 2021
The purpose of the survey is to experimentally study the influence of electromagnetic radiation from the decimeter range on the permeability of erythrocyte membranes. The object of the study was the blood of 80 white rats, 60 of them for three months were under the influence of electromagnetic radiation of the decimeter range. 20 animals of the control

Effect of electromagnetic permeability on transition temperature of superconductivity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2023
The description of superconductivity at high-temperature is a problem that has recently been addressed. Transition temperature of superconductivity, [Formula: see text], depends on the lattice structure type, size and room pressure. In super-lattices and low-dimensional layered nanostructures, [Formula: see text] is increased by increasing the ...

The quantum vacuum at the foundations of classical electrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the classical theory of electromagnetism, the permittivity and the permeability of free space are constants whose magnitudes do not seem to possess any deeper physical meaning.

DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN SPECTRAL ELEMENT METHOD TO COMPUTE REFLECTION AND TRANSMISSION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES

open access: yesRevista de Matemática: Teoría y Aplicaciones, 2018
Modeling wave reflection and transmission is important for a diversity of applications in physics and engineering. Examples can be found in acoustics and electromagnetism. Computational wave propagation requires high order accuracy both in space and time

Boyer-Lindquist space-times and beyond: Meta-material analogues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Physically reasonable stationary axisymmetric spacetimes can (under very mild technical conditions) be put into Boyer-Lindquist form. Unfortunately a metric presented in Boyer-Lindquist form is not well-adapted to the "quasi-Cartesian" meta-material ...

Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Media with Indefinite Permittivity and Permeability Tensors [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2003
We study the behavior of wave propagation in materials for which not all of the principle elements of the permeability and permittivity tensors have the same sign. We find that a wide variety of effects can be realized in such media, including negative refraction, near-field focusing and high impedance surface reflection.

Numerical modelling of magnetic characteristics of ferrite core taking account of both eddy current and displacement current

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
In the magnetic field analysis of magnetic devices using a ferrite core, such as a pulse transformer, the frequency-domain analysis is often carried out using the measured complex permeability under different frequency range.

Quantum levitation by left-handed metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Left-handed metamaterials make perfect lenses that image classical electromagnetic fields with significantly higher resolution than the diffraction limit. Here we consider the quantum physics of such devices.

Photon Self-Energy in a Color Superconductor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In a color superconductor the diquark condensates break spontaneously both the color and ordinary electromagnetism, leaving a remanining rotated U(1) symmetry unbroken.
