Electromagnetic Response Prediction for Conductive, Permeable, Heterogeneous Steel-cased Wells

Proceedings, 2017
Summary Steel-cased wells can be used as galvanic sources to detect and estimate variations in subsurface electrical conductivity. Most of the modeling approaches are based on approximations to the casing and ignore the variations in magnetic permeability.

Effect of negative permeability on negative permittivity in electromagnetic metamaterials

High Power Laser and Particle Beams, 2010
For further understanding of the interactions between different materials in the electromagnetic metamaterials, the change characteristics of the effective permittivity of wire array embedded in a single negative permeability medium were analyzed theoretically.

THE NEGATIVE PERMITTIVITY AND PERMEABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF TRIANGULAR ELECTROMAGNETIC RESONATORS

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2011
In this paper, the triangular electromagnetic resonators (TERs) is introduced and investigated. The electric mode at lower frequency and magnetic mode at higher frequency, originating from coupling to the electric field and magnetic field, are validated through the measurement in parallel-plate waveguide system, parameter retrieval algorithm and ...

Toward subsurface magnetic permeability imaging with electromagnetic induction sensors

2018
In near-surface geophysics, small portable loop-loop electro-magnetic induction (EMI) sensors using harmonic sources with a constant and rather small frequency are increasingly used to investigate the electrical properties of the subsurface. For such sensors, the influence of electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability on the EMI response is well-

RF thin-film permeability measurements in a travelling electromagnetic field

IEEE International Digest of Technical Papers on Magnetics Conference, 2003
Summary form only given. Thin film permeability measurements in the RF range gives useful information for materials science and modem IT device developments including cellular phone (0.8-2GHz) and bluetooth devices (2.45GHz). We propose a new permeameter utilizing traveling electromagnetic field mode and a shielded-loop type planar pickup coil.

Electromagnetic Models for UXO Detection and Classification in Permeable Soils

2008
Abstract : Support Vector Machine (SVM) and neural networks (NN), are applied to classifying metallic objects according to size using the expansion coefficients of their magneto-quasistatic (MQS) response in the spheroidal coordinate system. The classified objects include homogeneous spheroids and composite metallic assemblages meant to resemble ...

Analysis of Electromagnetic Field on the Permeability Test of Concrete

2012 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2012
The method of water pressure measuring permeability of concrete has a long test cycle, low efficiency, and doesn't apply to low permeability of concrete. The method based on electricity can overcome these shortcomings. This paper puts forward the method of streaming potential coefficient to measure the permeability of concrete, which is reasonable ...

Computation of electromagnetic field scattered by three-dimensional permeable objects

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1991
A surface integral equation is derived for electromagnetic scattering by highly conducting permeable objects of irregular shapes and solved, numerically, using the method of moments. The analysis make uses of the impedance boundary condition to simplify the formulation and reduce the computation time and memory requirements associated with the method ...
