Permeability enhancement of Kv1.2 potassium channel by a terahertz electromagnetic field

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2023
As biomolecules vibrate and rotate in the terahertz band, the biological effects of terahertz electromagnetic fields have drawn considerable attention from the physiological and medical communities. Ion channels are the basis of biological electrical signals, so studying the effect of terahertz electromagnetic fields on ion channels is significant.

Electromagnetic response of a permeable inhomogeneous conducting sphere

Geoexploration, 1973
Abstract Electromagnetic response of a two-layered spherical model to a dipolar field has been calculated considering the simultaneous influences of a permeable conducting cover, magnetic permeability contrast with the surrounding medium, and radial conductivity variation inside the core.

Electromagnetic—acoustic evaluation of the permeability of porous media

Acoustical Physics, 2001
The generation of ultrasound in a porous water-saturated medium subjected to rapid electromagnetic heating is considered. The irradiation provides the Joule heating of narrow and electrically high resistive pore throats, which interconnect cavities within the medium and, consequently, determine the permeability of the medium.

Electromagnetic Characterization of Hydraulic Fracture Shape and Permeability

Proceedings, 2015
Our numerical proof-of-concept studies demonstrate that surface electric field measurements can provide sensitivity to both the geometric distribution of injected conductive fluids and or conductively enhanced proppant as well as sensitivity to the created hydraulic permeability of the fracture zone.

Progress In Interpretation Of Transient Electromagnetic Data In Terms Of Subsurface Permeability

9th EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 1996
The relative importance of nonpoint-source (NPS) pollution in the degradation of water quality has increased in the last two decades due to the control of pollutant releases from point sources (Sharpley and Meyer 1994). The most important source of NPS pollutants are agriculture and urban areas, which impact water quality in rivers, lakes, estuaries ...

Analysis of Electromagnetic Field on the Permeability Test of Concrete

2012 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2012
The method of water pressure measuring permeability of concrete has a long test cycle, low efficiency, and doesn't apply to low permeability of concrete. The method based on electricity can overcome these shortcomings. This paper puts forward the method of streaming potential coefficient to measure the permeability of concrete, which is reasonable ...

Inclusion of Finite Permeability on Design and Optimization of an Electromagnetic Undulator

Chinese Physics Letters, 2014
We derive an alternate analytical expression for the optimum dimensions of an electromagnetic undulator with a finite permeability lamination core. The analytical expressions are compared with earlier results under an infinite permeability approximation of the lamination core of the electromagnetic undulator design.

Current Sheet Permeability in Electromagnetic Pulsed Plasma Thrusters

38th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2002
A case is made for the existence of permeability of current sheets in electromagneticpulsed plasma thrusters. Permeability refers to the leakage of plasma or neutral par-ticles behind the sheet and could cause a significant effect on the performance of thethruster. Analytical calculations are presented which demonstrate the mismatch be-tween experimental

Effect of negative permeability on negative permittivity in electromagnetic metamaterials

High Power Laser and Particle Beams, 2010
For further understanding of the interactions between different materials in the electromagnetic metamaterials, the change characteristics of the effective permittivity of wire array embedded in a single negative permeability medium were analyzed theoretically.

Transient electromagnetic response of a permeable nonuniformly conducting sphere

Journal of Applied Physics, 1975
Quasistatic response of a nonuniformly conducting and magnetically permeable sphere to a step pulse is obtained. the effect of conductivity distribution pattern and permeability of the sphere on the transient response is examined in detail. The results show that the introduction of conductivity inhomogeneity has considerable effect on the observed ...
