Reduction of Gas and Water Permeabilities Using Gels
SPE Production & Facilities, 1995SummaryWe investigated how different types of gels reduce permeability to water and gases in porous rock. Five types of gels were studied, including (1) a "weak" resorcinol-formaldehyde gel, (2) a "strong" resorcinol-formaldehyde gel, (3) a Cr(III)-xanthan gel, (4) a Cr(III)-acetate-HPAM gel, and (5) a colloidal-silica gel.

Permeability Reduction Induced by a Nonhydrostatic Stress Field
SPE Formation Evaluation, 1990Summary Stress-dependent permeability was measured in a high-porosity/high-permeability sandstone with mechanical and fluid-flow parameters similar to those found in typical North Sea reservoirs, particularly the little-investigated effect of triaxial stress configurations. Hydrostatic loading from atmospheric conditions to stress levels

Microbial Carbonate Precipitation for Subsurface Permeability Reduction
Urgent environmental challenges have created a need to more fully leverage the subsurface for its water, energy, and carbon-sequestering resources. Doing so safely and economically will, however, require robust and adaptable tools for engineering subsurface fluid flow and chemical reactions.openaire +1 more source
