Prediction of permeate flux and permeate concentration in nanofiltration of dye solution
Separation and Purification Technology, 2004Abstract Unstirred batch and cross flow nanofiltration have been carried out to separate dye from aqueous solution. The effect of different process parameters on separation of dye is studied. Experiments are conducted with aqueous solution of crystal violet (CV, molecular weight 408) using a 400 molecular weight cut-off membrane.

Permeate Flux in Crossflow Ultrafiltration under Intermediate Pressures
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1999The intermediate pressure range stands for an important condition for ultrafiltration operations where permeate flux falls below that predicted from a linear flux-pressure relationship but does not reach the limiting flux. Optimal performance of ultrafiltration might be achieved on the upper end of the intermediate pressure range because the maximum ...

Effects of ozonation on the permeate flux of nanocrystalline ceramic membranes
Water Research, 2005Titania membranes, with a molecular weight cut-off of 15 kD were used in an ozonation/membrane system that was fed with water from Lake Lansing, which had been pre-filtered through a 0.45 microm glass fiber filter. The application of ozone gas prior to filtration resulted in significant decreases in membrane fouling.

Decline of permeate flux for ultrafiltration along membrane tubes
Desalination, 2002The decline of permeate flux for ultrafiltration along membrane tubes was predicted from mass and momentum balances, based on the resistance-in-series model coupled with the considerations of the declinations of flow rate and transmembrane pressure along the membrane tubes.

Unsteady-State Permeate Flux of Crossflow Microfiltration
Separation Science and Technology, 1994Abstract In this study a membrane filtration cell was installed to investigate the variation of permeate flux with filtration time under various operating conditions including crossflow velocity, pressure drop, particle concentration, membrane pore size, particle size, pH, and electrolyte concentration.

In any membrane filtration, the prediction of permeate flux is critical to calculate the membrane surface required, which is an essential parameter for scaling-up, equipment sizing, and cost determination. Permeate flux prediction is an essential parameter in membrane performance evaluation and the projections for scaling-up from laboratory to the ...

Pressure-Dependent Permeate Flux in Ultra- and Microfiltration
Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2000The effect of applied pressure on the permeate flux in cross-flow ultrafiltration (UF) and microfiltration (MF) was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. In UF and MF processes, the permeate fluxes are controlled by concentration polarization and cake formation over the membrane surface.

Improving permeation flux by pulsed reverse osmosis
Chemical Engineering Science, 1974Abstract Pulsed and nonpulsed reverse osmosis experiments were conducted with a sucrose solution in cylindrical cellulose acetate membranes. For pulsing frequencies up to 1 Hz, permeation increases of more than 70 per cent were observed. A simple quasisteady-state theory for concentration polarization based on a film model of mass transfer describes ...

Seawater ultrafiltration: role of particles on organic rejections and permeate fluxes
Environmental Technology, 2013The role of natural compounds of seawater and added particles on mechanisms of membrane fouling and organic matter rejection has been investigated. Ultrafiltration (100 kDa) has been conducted in both dead-end (out/in) and tangential (in/out) modes on polysulfone hollow fibre membranes.
