Pressure-Dependent Permeate Flux in Ultra- and Microfiltration

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2000
The effect of applied pressure on the permeate flux in cross-flow ultrafiltration (UF) and microfiltration (MF) was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. In UF and MF processes, the permeate fluxes are controlled by concentration polarization and cake formation over the membrane surface.

Permeate Flux in Crossflow Ultrafiltration under Intermediate Pressures

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1999
The intermediate pressure range stands for an important condition for ultrafiltration operations where permeate flux falls below that predicted from a linear flux-pressure relationship but does not reach the limiting flux. Optimal performance of ultrafiltration might be achieved on the upper end of the intermediate pressure range because the maximum ...

Mixed conducting membranes — Macrostructure related oxygen permeation flux

AIChE Journal, 2010
AbstractThe influence of the macrostructures of LSCF hollow fiber membranes on oxygen permeation flux was investigated experimentally and theoretically. According to the results, asymmetric membranes perform differently toward oxygen permeation depending on their sintering outcome.

Steady-state permeate flux of cross-flow microfiltration

Journal of Membrane Science, 1995
Abstract A membrane filtration cell was employed in this study to investigate the steady-state permeate flux of cross-flow microfiltration under various operating conditions, including wall shear rate, particle size, membrane pore size, and electrolyte concentration.

Permeate-Flux Declination for Ultrafiltration along Membrane Tubes

Separation Science and Technology, 2010
The correlation equations for predicting local permeate fluxes in tubular-membrane ultrafilters were derived from mass and momentum balances by the modified resistance-in-series model with the considerations of the increment of concentration polarization and the declines of transmembrane pressure and flow rate, along the membrane tube.

Prediction of permeate flux and permeate concentration in nanofiltration of dye solution

Separation and Purification Technology, 2004
Abstract Unstirred batch and cross flow nanofiltration have been carried out to separate dye from aqueous solution. The effect of different process parameters on separation of dye is studied. Experiments are conducted with aqueous solution of crystal violet (CV, molecular weight 408) using a 400 molecular weight cut-off membrane.

A new helical membrane module for increasing permeate flux

Journal of Membrane Science, 2010
Abstract The membrane separation process such as MBR (membrane bioreactor) in wastewater treatment would be more competitive and environmental friendly, if membrane fouling was reduced and higher permeate flux was maintained without consuming extra material or extra energy.

Steady State permeat flux for particle cross-flow filtration

The Chemical Engineering Journal and the Biochemical Engineering Journal, 1996
Abstract A mathematical model based on the analysis of interparticle forces acting on a single spherical particle near the cake surface was developed to predict the steady state permeate flux of particle cross-flow filtration (CFF). Experiments were also conducted in a membrane filtration cell to verify this model.
