In Situ Monitoring and Electrical Modulation of Cellular Behaviors Directly at the Cell–Electrode Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents a platform for simultaneous monitoring and electrical control of cellular responses at the cell–electrode interface. The platform delivers tunable yet uniform electrical cues to cells, revealing that optimal electrical stimulation (ES) conditions vary across cell types.

Acoustic Wave Engineering of Lamb Wave Resonators with 2D van der Waals Floating Electrode

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
AlN‐based Lamb wave resonators integrated with 2D hBN/graphene van der Waals heterostructures achieve fr exceeding 7 GHz and enhanced electromechanical coupling. The heterostructure functions as an acoustic mirror, effectively confining acoustic energy and minimizing losses, which significantly improves the Q‐factor.

A Duality Between Surface Charge and Work Function in Scanning Kelvin Probe Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Scanning Kelvin probe microscopy (SKPM) is a powerful technique for macroscopic imaging of the electrostatic potential above a surface, providing insight into sample work function and charge variations. General relationships are derived connecting the measured SKPM voltage image and the underlying work function variation or charge pattern.

Fe(III)‐Mediated Formation of Cu Nanoinclusions and Local Heterojunctions in CuWO4 Photoanodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Fe(III) mediates the self‐assembly of CuWO4 nanostructures into core–shell architectures with Cu inclusions and WO3‐rich shells, enabling local p–n junction formation. This nanostructural transformation enhances charge separation and enables dual activity: oxygen evolution under photoelectrochemical operation and reactive oxygen species (ROS ...

How to Manufacture Photonic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Metamaterials boast applications such as invisibility and “hyperlenses” with resolution beyond the diffraction limit, but these applications haven’t been exploited in earnest and the market for them hasn’t grown much likely because facile and economical methods for fabricating them without defect has not emerged.

Silicon‐Integrated Next‐Generation Plasmonic Devices for Energy‐Efficient Semiconductor Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Silicon (Si)‐integrated plasmonics offer a pathway to next‐generation, energy‐efficient semiconductor applications. This review highlights advances using complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS)‐compatible materials like transparent conductive oxides and novel architectures, particularly coupled hybrid plasmonic waveguides (CHPWs).
