Permittivity in Molecular Nanofilms

MRS Proceedings, 2007
AbstractA microscopic theory of dielectrical properties of thin molecular films, i.e. quasi 2D systems bounded by two surfaces parallel to XY planes was formulated. Harmonic exciton states were calculated using the method of two-time, retarded, temperature dependent Green's functions.

Solid Mixture Permittivities

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1955
A macroscopically homogeneous aggregate contains two materials A, B, with dielectric constants εA, εB, in volume ratio p: (1—p); what is the dielectric constant of the aggregate? By a method used by Yvon and others in molecular theory, this very old problem is formulated rigorously and solved in series form. One form of the solution is ε/ε′ = 1+⅓p(1—p)(

Biomass measurement by inductive permittivity

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1997
An electrodeless, inductive permittivity probe is shown to reliably indicate fermentation biomass. By designing the probe based on electromagnetic induction, the electrode polarization artifact-common to electrode-based permittivity measurements of conductive solutions-is eliminated. The measurement of viable biomass concentration (X(V)) is precise and

Permittivity of lithium hydride

Journal of the Chemical Society A: Inorganic, Physical, Theoretical, 1969
The shorted-line method has been applied to the measurement of the permittivity of high-density, polycrystalline lithium hydride. Atca. 9370 MHz the permittivity was found to be 13·1. By use of this value in the Szigeti equation the effective ionic charge has been calculated to be 0·55 e.

Dipolar Correlations and the Dielectric Permittivity of Water

Physical Review Letters, 2007
The static dielectric properties of liquid and solid water are investigated within linear response theory in the context of ab initio molecular dynamics. Using maximally localized Wannier functions to treat the macroscopic polarization we formulate a first-principles, parameter-free, generalization of Kirkwood's phenomenological theory.

Hemispherical dielectric permittivity cell

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1978
A three-terminal dielectric cell based on a hemispherical design is constructed for low-temperature measurements of dielectric permittivity. The cell has a small sample volume, is geometrically stable, and shows no frequency dependence of capacitance. Measurements on test samples are presented showing both cell constant stability data and the linearity

Temperature dependence of the permittivity and loss tangent of high-permittivity materials at terahertz frequencies

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2005
An analysis including the temperature dependence of the permittivity and loss tangent of three low-cost and high-permittivity materials (zirconium-tin-titanate, alumina, and titanium-dioxide) in the terahertz frequency range is presented. Such dielectric materials find varied applications in microwave and terahertz systems and components.

The permittivity of thermodynamically ideal liquid mixtures and the excess relative permittivity of binary dielectrics

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2009
The ideal relative permittivity of liquid mixtures is demonstrated to be a volume-fraction-weighted average of the pure-component relative permittivities. This generalised-thermodynamics result is used to define the molar electric dipole, permittivity, dielectric polarization and electric susceptibility of thermodynamically ideal liquid mixtures and ...

Permittivity at infinite frequency

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry, 2006
A method independently developed by Boyer-Donzelot and Levin for determining the permittivity at infinite frequency ɛ∞ on the basis of the concept of polarizability additivity of interatomic bonds is considered. The ɛ∞ values calculated for various chemical compounds are compared.

A bridge for the measurement of permittivity

Proceedings of the IEE - Part B: Radio and Electronic Engineering, 1956
A description is given of a null method for the measurement of the complex permittivity of dielectrics. The direct admittance of a 3-terminal capacitor with the sample as dielectric is measured as a complex capacitance, the two components being indicated directly on two 3-terminal variable air capacitors.
