Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

DESIGN A NON-COHERENT MULTI-CARRIER CHAOTIC SYSTEM BASED ON GENERALIZED CARRIER AND PERMUTATION INDEXES MODULATION MECHANISM [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanics of Continua and Mathematical Sciences
This study introduces a novel system called Generalized Joint PermutationCarrier Index Modulation Based MC-DCSK (GJPC-IM-MCDCSK) aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, spectral efficacy, and data transmission rates of GCIDCSK technology by generating and

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Improved Attacks on sLiSCP Permutation and Tight Bound of Limited Birthday Distinguishers

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology, 2020
Limited birthday distinguishers (LBDs) are widely used tools for the cryptanalysis of cryptographic permutations. In this paper we propose LBDs on several variants of the sLiSCP permutation family that are building blocks of two round 2 candidates of the

The conditional permutation test for independence while controlling for confounders

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series B (Statistical Methodology), 2018
We propose a general new method, the conditional permutation test, for testing the conditional independence of variables X and Y given a potentially high dimensional random vector Z that may contain confounding factors. The test permutes entries of X non‐

Quasirandom permutations

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, 2004
Chung and Graham define quasirandom subsets of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ to be those with any one of a large collection of equivalent random-like properties. We weaken their definition and call a subset of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ $ $-balanced if its discrepancy on each interval is bounded by $ n$.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
