Moments of Discomfort: Rethinking Reflexivity and Researcher Subjectivities Through Affect and Poststructuralism

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 483-494, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how discomfort, as an embodied and affective experience, can be theorized through poststructuralist reflexivity to deepen feminist understandings of researcher subjectivity and power in qualitative research. I present two vignettes as illustrative of moments of discomfort conducting research “in the field” which I argue ...

A natural generalization of Balanced Tableaux

open access: yes, 2016
We introduce the notion of "type" of a tableau, that allows us to define new families of tableaux including both balanced and standard Young tableaux. We use these new objects to describe the set of reduced decompositions of any permutation.

Edge Sequences, Ribbon Tableaux, and an Action of Affine Permutations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 1999
This is a summary of results on ribbon tableaux and a description of a natural action of the affine Coxeter group of type \(\widetilde{A}_{r-1}\) on the \(r\)-rim hook lattice. This leads to the concept of chains in \(r\)-ribbon tableaux, generalizing the notion of chains in domino tableaux.

Pattern avoidance in alternating permutations and tableaux (extended abstract) [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2010
We give bijective proofs of pattern-avoidance results for a class of permutations generalizing alternating permutations. The bijections employed include a modified form of the RSK insertion algorithm and recursive bijections based on generating trees.

Permutation statistics and weak Bruhat order in permutation tableaux of type B

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2015
Many important statistics of signed permutations are realized in the corresponding permutation tableaux or bare tableaux of type $B$: Alignments, crossings and inversions of signed permutations are realized in the corresponding permutation tableaux of type $B$, and the cycles of signed permutations are understood in the corresponding bare tableaux of ...

An affine generalization of evacuation

open access: yes, 2018
We establish the existence of an involution on tabloids that is analogous to Schutzenberger's evacuation map on standard Young tableaux. We find that the number of its fixed points is given by evaluating a certain Green's polynomial at $q = -1$, and ...

Distribution of the Number of Corners in Tree-like and Permutation Tableaux.

open access: yes, 2018
In this abstract, we study tree-like tableaux and some of their probabilistic properties. Tree-like tableaux are in bijection with other combinatorial structures, including permutation tableaux, and have a connection to the partially asymmetric simple exclusion process (PASEP), an important model of interacting particles system.

The lattice permutation condition for Kronecker tableaux (Extended Abstract)

open access: yes, 2018
We recently generalised the lattice permutation condition for Young tableaux to Kronecker tableaux and hence calculated a large new class of stable Kronecker coefficients labelled by co-Pieri triples. In this extended abstract we discuss important families of co-Pieri triples for which our combinatorics simplifies drastically.
