Elemental Contamination in Brown Mussels (Perna perna) Marketed in Southeastern Brazil
Biological Trace Element Research, 2021Perna perna mussels, abundant throughout the Brazilian coast, are routinely applied as bioindicators in environmental monitoring actions due to their sessile and filter-feeding characteristics. In addition, they are noteworthy for their food importance, especially for coastal populations.

210Po concentration in Perna perna mussels: looking for radiation effects
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2008Twenty ropes with 400 Perna perna mussels seeds (3 cm shell size) were set-up on floating structures at Cabo Frio Island, Arraial do Cabo, approximately 100 km northeast of Rio de Janeiro city. A rope was taken out on a monthly basis, and the shell sizes of 100 seeds were measured.

Biochemical responses in mussels Perna perna exposed to diesel B5
Chemosphere, 2015In Brazil B5 blend (5% biodiesel and 95% diesel oil) has been adopted as mandatory fuel since 2010 for automotive vehicles. Since little is known about the effects of B5 exposure can promote on antioxidant system of marine biota this study aimed to assess if B5 can generate modifications in antioxidant parameters of mussels Perna perna. To address this

Response of Fouling Brown Mussel, Perna perna (L.), to Chlorine
Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2003Perna perna (L.), the edible brown mussel, is very widely distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions and is commonly found in rocky shores. Apart from being a candidate for commercial cultivation, P. perna is also a common pest organism in cooling water systems of coastal power stations.

First evidence of transcriptional modulation by chlorothalonil in mussels Perna perna
Chemosphere, 2020Gills are considered a key player in organism defenses against environmental pollutants. Since it is the major site of uptake of waterborne chemicals, the modulation of important cellular defenses is expected in this tissue. Chlorothalonil, a fungicide presented in herbicides and antifouling paints, might be responsible for toxicity in marine biota. In

A novel cathepsin from the mussel (Perna perna) (Linne)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1988Abstract 1. 1. Proteases from the digestive gland of the mussel Perna perna were subjected to an isolation procedure similar to that used for mammalian thiol cathepsins. 2. 2. A protease was purified by ammonium sulphate fractionation, molecular exclusion chromatography and ion exchange chromatography on CM-Sephadex. 3. 3.

Some haemato-immunological parameters in the mussel Perna perna
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 1999The aim of this study was to establish the normal pattern of some haemato-immunological parameters in the mussel Perna perna to serve as a reference for further studies using this species as a biological indicator of environmental contaminants. We investigated the morphology and cytochemistry of the circulating haemocytes of P.

Perna perna mussel reference material: short term stability assessment
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2009Instrumental neutron activation analysis was used at a 2-month long isochronous short term stability test performed on a Perna perna mussel candidate reference material. The assessment of the analysis of variance test, as well as, the normalized results to the control temperature showed no systematic changes in the concentration of Ag, As, Br, Co, Cr ...
