Association between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and placenta accreta spectrum

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 1, Issue 3, May 2025.
Abstract Introduction Placenta accreta spectrum and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are two significant contributors to severe maternal morbidity and fetal prematurity that may have related but opposite uteroplacental vascular origins. However, the relationship between these conditions is uncertain.

APPENDICOSTOMY IN PERNICIOUS ANEMIA

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1909
Pernicious anemia is a primary anemia, characterized by a progressive diminution in the number and changes in the form of the red blood corpuscles associated with a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin, which is not so marked as the reduction in red blood cells.

Clinical patterns of vitiligo in Japan: A descriptive study using the JMDC claims database

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 831-840, May 2025.
Abstract Vitiligo is a chronic autoimmune disorder that profoundly impacts patients' quality of life. Real‐world data on vitiligo in Japan are limited. Clinical Features and Outcomes of Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase‐65 Antibody‐Associated Pure Cerebellar Ataxia and Stiff Person Syndrome Spectrum Disorders: A Single‐Center Cohort Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Cerebellar ataxia is associated with greater disability in glutamic acid decarboxylase‐65 (GAD65) antibody‐associated neurological disorders and can occur in isolation or as part of stiff person syndrome (SPS) spectrum disorders (SPSD). We sought to phenotypically characterize this subpopulation with cerebellar dysfunction.

High‐Throughput Immunoassays for Cavin‐4 IgG: A Diagnostic Tool for Immune‐Mediated Rippling Muscle Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 876-880, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Cavin‐4 was identified as a potential autoantigen for immune‐mediated rippling muscle disease (iRMD). To validate this, we developed and tested various immunoassays, including a cell‐based assay (CBA), cavin‐4 recombinant protein ELISA, and multi‐peptide ELISA.

Risk of gastric cancer in autoimmune gastritis and pernicious anaemia: Insights from Mendelian randomization and multi‐omics analysis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 5, Issue 2, April 2025.
Mendelian randomization supports a causal link between autoimmune gastritis (proxied by pernicious anemia) and gastric cancer. Autoimmune gastritis may promote gastric carcinogenesis via dysregulation of oncogenic pathways. Gastric cancer screening remains essential for autoimmune gastritis patients.

Lettuce fortification through vitamin B12‐producing bacteria – proof of concept study

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 3343-3354, April 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) can be produced de novo only by certain bacteria and archaea. It plays a crucial role in the health of animals and humans, which obtain it only through diet, mainly from animal products. This study aimed to identify endophytic bacterial strains capable of synthesizing vitamin B12 and enriching edible plants ...

Prevalence of autoimmune diabetes among Aboriginal Australians: the Fremantle Diabetes Study Phase II

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, Volume 55, Issue 4, Page 659-663, April 2025.
Abstract The prevalence of autoimmune diabetes was assessed in 113 indigenous and 1555 non‐indigenous participants in the Fremantle Diabetes Study Phase II. Both type 1 diabetes (3.5% vs. 8.2%) and latent autoimmune diabetes of adults diagnosed based on glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody (GADA) positivity (1.0% vs.
