Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of NdFe films

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1990
The perpendicular magnetic properties of NdFe alloy thin films have been studied on samples prepared by the facing targets sputtering method at a substrate temperature of 240-270 degrees C. All the films with Nd content over 35 at.% exhibit perpendicular magnetic anisotropy.

Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy of TbCo Films

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1984
An experimental study has been made on the magnetic anisotropy of amorphous TbCo films prepared by rf co-sputtering. TbCo films prepared at a substrate bias voltage of –100 V exhibit a large uniaxial anisotropy of 2×106 erg/cm3 with its easy axis perpendicular to the film plane, whereas films prepared without the substrate bias exhibit the ...

Magnetoresistive sensors with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Journal of Applied Physics, 2005
A magnetoresistive (MR) read sensor design for magnetic recording has been proposed in an attempt to solve the magnetization distribution and thermal stability problems of nanometer-scale read sensors. In this design, the free layer has a perpendicular-to-plane easy axis and the reference layer has an in-plane easy axis. The giant-magnetoresistive film

Perpendicular anisotropy of evaporated magnetic films

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1968
Evidence of the existence of origins of perpendicular anisotropy other than the ordinary magnetostrictive effect is presented with a brief review of other studies. As one of these origins, the effect of the grain boundaries or the microscopic shape effect is discussed.

Orbital magnetic moments of Co in multilayers with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Physical Review B, 1994
The out-of-plane orbital magnetic moment of Co in Co/X multilayers (X=Pd, Pt, and Ni) with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy has been investigated using x-ray magnetic-circular-dichroism spectroscopy. The orbital d moment per Co atom, ${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{orb}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$, is considerably enhanced by (0.15\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm ...

Magnetic relaxation in barium ferrite films with perpendicular anisotropy

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1999
Magnetic relaxation analysis have been carried out on barium ferrite films with perpendicular anisotropy, grown by pulsed laser deposition. Logarithmic behaviour on the time dependence of the magnetisation has been observed. The measured and corrected viscosity exhibit a large difference because of the contribution of the demagnetisation effect.

Skyrmions in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy dots: Imaging and simulations

2011 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications, 2011
We present the results of soft X-ray holography imaging of sub-micrometer disc-shaped dots with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. For particular geometries such dots can sustain magnetic bubbles that have been predicted to exhibit rich spin dynamical behaviour.

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in CoxPt1−x alloy films

Thin Solid Films, 1996
Abstract Structural (X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy) and magnetic (Kerr effect and SQUID magnetometry) properties of (111) or (001) epitaxial films ( x ~ 0.25,0.75) grown onto a Ru(001) buffer at various temperatures have been studied.

Static magnetization direction under perpendicular surface anisotropy

Physical Review B, 1990

MnBi nanoparticles with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2007
Abstract A ribbon of a Mn-Bi meta-stable phase was fabricated by melt-spinning a Bi-rich Mn-Bi alloy (Mn 10 Bi 90 ). Employing magnetic field heating to an as-spun sample up to 530 K in a magnetic field of 10 kOe results in a highly c -axis preferred orientation, showing the remanence magnetization ratio M r / M s  ≈ 1.0 on the demagnetization ...
