Perpendicular-magnetic-anisotropy CoFeB racetrack memory

Journal of Applied Physics, 2012
Current-induced domain wall motion in magnetic nanowires drives the invention of a novel ultra-dense non-volatile storage device, called “racetrack memory.” Combining with magnetic tunnel junctions write and read heads, CMOS integrability and fast data access speed can also be achieved.

Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy Properties of CoFeB/Pd Multilayers

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2011
The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) properties of CoFeB/Pd multilayers are investigated as functions of the thickness of the constituent layers of the multilayers and of the substrate type. A relatively strong PMA is formed at small CoFeB thicknesses of 0.3 and 0.5 nm over the entire Pd thickness range of 0.47 to 1.26 nm.

Perpendicular anisotropy of evaporated magnetic films

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1968
Evidence of the existence of origins of perpendicular anisotropy other than the ordinary magnetostrictive effect is presented with a brief review of other studies. As one of these origins, the effect of the grain boundaries or the microscopic shape effect is discussed.

A perpendicular-anisotropy CoFeB–MgO magnetic tunnel junction

Nature Materials, 2010
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) with ferromagnetic electrodes possessing a perpendicular magnetic easy axis are of great interest as they have a potential for realizing next-generation high-density non-volatile memory and logic chips with high thermal stability and low critical current for current-induced magnetization switching.

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in CoxPt1−x alloy films

Thin Solid Films, 1996
Abstract Structural (X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy) and magnetic (Kerr effect and SQUID magnetometry) properties of (111) or (001) epitaxial films ( x ~ 0.25,0.75) grown onto a Ru(001) buffer at various temperatures have been studied.

Magnetic nanoparticle array with perpendicular crystal magnetic anisotropy

Journal of Applied Physics, 1999
By using electron beam lithography, a continuous CoCrPt film with a perpendicular crystal magnetic anisotropy has been patterned into a magnetic nanoparticle array of 29 Gdot/in.2 with a 150 nm period, an 80 nm diameter, and a 44 nm height. Studies of magnetic properties using a magnetic force microscope and a vibrating sample magnetometer show that ...

MnBi nanoparticles with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2007
Abstract A ribbon of a Mn-Bi meta-stable phase was fabricated by melt-spinning a Bi-rich Mn-Bi alloy (Mn 10 Bi 90 ). Employing magnetic field heating to an as-spun sample up to 530 K in a magnetic field of 10 kOe results in a highly c -axis preferred orientation, showing the remanence magnetization ratio M r / M s  ≈ 1.0 on the demagnetization ...

Double magnetic tunnel junctions with perpendicular anisotropy

2015 IEEE Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2015
Magnetic Tunnel Junctions (MTJs) with perpendicular anisotropy have been studied extensively in recent years since their remarkable properties (high write speed, scalability, endurance, low critical current density for Spin Transfer Torque (STT) switching, etc.) make them particularly attractive components to use in Magnetic Random Access Memories ...

Nanopatterned CoPt alloys with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Applied Physics Letters, 2008
CoPt alloy films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were grown on SiO2 nanoparticle arrays with particle sizes as small as 10 nm. In order to induce perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in the CoPt film, a MgO seed layer was sputter deposited. Despite the fact that neighboring CoPt film caps are interconnected, individual caps appear as single domain ...

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of R2O3/Fe multilayers

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1999
Abstract Various rare-earth sesquioxides and iron multilayers have been examined to investigate the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy for iron layers. Both Y 2 O 3 and Yb 2 O 3 layers with the same c-rare-earth structure (cubic) as Eu 2 O 3 make Fe moments perpendicular to the film plane, while Pr 2 O 3 /Fe films show usual in-plane anisotropy ...
