Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in NdFeB thin films
Journal of Applied Physics, 1999The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in NdFeB thin films is investigated. PMA was observed when the c axis of Nd2Fe14B phase orients perpendicular to the film plane. The c-axis orientation and hence the PMA was found to be very sensitive to composition and substrate temperature.

Magnetometer for anisotropy measurement using perpendicular magnetization
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1990Abstract An instrument for magnetic anisotropy determination based on perpendicular magnetization measurement is described. The principal advantages compared with the usual torsion magnetometers are a much simpler construction and operation. In addition it is possible to measure high anisotrpies, the overall sensitivity in torque is ≈ 10 dyne cm ...

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of multilayers: recent insights
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1995Abstract Extending our understanding of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) beyond the phenomenological approach of volume ( K V ) and interface anisotropies ( K S ) requires caution. Experimentally, many factors such as roughness, formation of interface alloys, or patchiness of ultrathin layers may cause a reduction in PMA.

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy on sputtered FeTi films
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1987Magnetic properties and crystalline structures for sputtered FeTi films (0-40 at% Ti in composition), have been examined. The film structures were divided into three regions, bcc phase, transition region from bee to amorphous phase, and amorphous phase.

Co-Cr films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1981The magnetic properties of RF sputtered Co-Cr films have been studied over a range of preparation conditions extending previous work. Reproducible well-developed perpendicular anisotropy, as would be required for perpendicular recording, was found when the deposition conditions were maintained at an optimum of 170°C substrate temperature, 1.5 KV RF ...

Fabrication of Isolated CoGdTb Magnetic Nanodots with Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2013The authors report that a closely-packed hybrid nanostructure can be fabricated by using simple sputtering deposition and anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) templates. In order to isolate CoGdTb magnetic materials with the AAO template, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were incorporated into the AAO template.

Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy in Columnar Structure Films
IEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1987A model approximating the columnar structure in Co-Cr, Co-O and other films is used to derive the resulting shape anisotropy energy K ueff . The derived results are evaluated by comparing the predicted temperature dependence of the anisotropy energy with experimental data for Co-O films.

Superconducting spin switch with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy
Physical Review B, 2007In a superconducting spin switch consisting of ferromagnet-superconductor-ferromagnet (FSF) triple layers, the superconducting transition temperature ${T}_{c}$ can be controlled by switching the individual magnetization directions of the F layers from parallel (P) to antiparallel (AP) orientation.

Ag induced enhancement of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy
Surface Science, 2001Abstract Some interesting magnetic properties were observed after Ag ultrathin films were deposited on Co/Pt(1 1 1). The spin reversal of Co can be prevented when Ag atoms cap Co on Pt(1 1 1). The out-of-plane magnetization has a significant enhancement after annealing at high temperature.

Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in Pt/Fe multilayers
Journal of Applied Physics, 1991Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (K⊥) and related magnetic properties in Pt/Fe multilayers [compositionally modulated multilayer films (CMFs)] are investigated. It is found that Pt/Fe CMFs with about an 18-Å Pt layer and Fe layer below 5 Å become perpendicularly magnetized films. Surface magnetic anisotropy (Ks) and volume anisotropy (Kv) are 0.46 erg/
