Impacts of Different Satellite‐Based Precipitation Signature Errors on Hydrological Modeling Performance Across China

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 12, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract The quasi‐global availability of satellite‐based precipitation products (SPPs) holds significant potential for improving hydrological modeling skill. However, limited knowledge exists concerning the impacts of different SPP error type on hydrological modeling skill and their sensitivity across different climate zones.

MSWEP : 3-hourly 0.25° global gridded precipitation (1979-2015) by merging gauge, satellite, and reanalysis data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Current global precipitation (P) datasets do not take full advantage of the complementary nature of satellite and reanalysis data. Here, we present Multi-Source Weighted-Ensemble Precipitation (MSWEP) version 1.1, a global P dataset for the period 1979 ...

Statistical assessment of IMERG-FRV6, MSWEP, TRMM-3B43V7, and PERSIANN-CDR satellite precipitation in monthly, seasonal, and annual time-scale over Iran

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Knowing the spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation around the world is beneficial for improving climate knowledge and enhancing weather and climate forecasting models. While determining the distribution of precipitation is complicated, many satellite precipitation products (SSPs) have been developed in the past few decades ...

Temporal and spatial assessment of four satellite rainfall estimates over French Guiana and North Brazil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Satellite precipitation products are a means of estimating rainfall, particularly in areas that are sparsely equipped with rain gauges. The Guiana Shield is a region vulnerable to high water episodes.

Padrões de precipitação no Sul da Amazônia baseado no PERSIANN-CDR: Características e tendências

open access: yes, 2017
Precipitation is a key climatic parameter for many anthropogenic activities, especially agriculture. Yet, its homogeneous and continuous monitoring remains challenging. That is particularly true for the Amazon region, which is sparsely inhabited and has a low density of ground-based rain gauge network.

ANALISIS HUBUNGAN DATA HUJAN SATELIT PERSIANN-CDR & TRMM 3B42 DENGAN DATA HUJAN BMKG PADA STASIUN HUJAN DI WILAYAH SUMBA BARAT

open access: yesJurnal Kacapuri : Jurnal Keilmuan Teknik Sipil, 2023

Assessing the Performance and Limitations of PERSIANN-CDR: A Case Study in the São Francisco River Basin

open access: yesRevista de Geociências do Nordeste
This study investigates the performance and limitations of the PERSIANN-CDR precipitation estimates dataset in comparison to strategically selected rain gauge stations within the São Francisco River Basin. The study covers the period from January 1989 to December 2018. The results reveal distinct patterns in the performance of PERSIANN-CDR.
