Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

Simultaneous Multifrequency Modulated Wireless Information and Power Transfer for a Triboelectronic Monitoring System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ultrasound‐driven triboelectric nanogenerator multi‐frequency modulated simultaneous wireless power and information transmission (US‐TENG‐MF‐SWIPT) system is proposed for various intelligent microsystems, which increases the efficiency of information transmission multiply with almost no reduction in the power transmission efficiency.

Persistent Transcriptome Alterations in Zebrafish Embryos After Discontinued Opioid Exposure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Much attention has been paid to the public health crisis that has resulted from the opioid epidemic. Given the high number of opioid users that are of childbearing age, the impact of utero exposure is a serious concern. Unfortunately, there is little knowledge regarding the consequences of opioid exposure during early development. While neurobehavioral

Order–Disorder Phase Stabilization by Pressure‐Induced Charge Transfer Enhances the Ferroelectric Photovoltaic Effect in Multiferroic BaFe4O7

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pressure‐driven charge transfer in multiferroic BaFe4O7 induces Fe valence disproportionation and structural distortion, drastically narrowing the bandgap and enhancing ferroelectric polarization. This synergistic optimization boosts photocurrent 2.5‐fold and is retained upon decompression, offering a promising strategy to overcome the ferroelectric ...

Cyclic Strain and Macrophage‐Mediated Transport Govern Micron‐Sized PM2.5 Translocation across the Air–Blood Barrier

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a dynamic, tri‐culture air‐blood barrier model, this study reveals that macrophage‐mediated transport governs micron‐sized particle translocation under cyclic strain. The process is highly size‐dependent that 2 µm particles are transported by macrophages, 0.2 µm particles diffuse passively, and 5 µm particles are effectively blocked.

Ultra‐Robust Conductive Hydrogels Enabled by a Gradient Bond‐Breaking Pseudo‐Drying Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioinspired PVA‐ANFs hydrogel, engineered via novel gradient bond‐breaking, achieves unprecedented mechanical performance: ultrahigh strength (≈18 MPa), modulus (≈12 MPa), toughness (≈74 MJ/m3), and record fracture energy (≈269 kJ m−2). It exhibits cryogenic flexibility (−70°C), high ionic conductivity (936.3 mS m−1), and biocompatibility.

Rational Grain Boundary Segregation Enables Long‐Term Thermally Stable, Catalytically Active, and CO‐Tolerant Nanograined Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grain boundaries endow nanocrystalline metals with unique functions but suffer thermal instability. In boron‐segregated platinum, stability depends critically on segregation level—sub‐equilibrium concentrations strengthen boundaries, whereas oversaturation induces decohesion.

Hundred‐Nanometer‐Thick Stretchable Liquid Metal Films for Ultra‐Conformal Bioelectrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A low‐temperature deposition strategy is proposed to fabricate 19 nm‐thick liquid metal nanofilms (conductivity: 3 × 10⁶ S m−1) for developing ultra‐thin, high‐conductivity epidermal electrodes. The 1 µm‐thick composite achieves 8.5 kΩ skin contact impedance and 26 dB EMG SNR, enabling robust dynamic electromyography during movement.
