Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

Beyond Immediate Impact: A Systems Perspective on the Persistent Effects of Population Policy on Elderly Well-Being

open access: yesSystems
This study adopts a systems perspective to examine the persistent effects of China’s One-Child Policy (OCP) on the subjective well-being of older adults, emphasizing structural persistence, reinforcing feedback, and path-dependent lock-in in complex ...

A Conjugation Delivery System of Macrophages and Platelet Pharmacytes Promotes Regeneration After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A macrophage–platelet conjugation system (M‐P‐NPs@PPARγ) targets injure tissue to co‐deliver platelet mitochondria and PPARγ‐encoding NPs. This strategy boosts the macrophage energy supply and restores lipid homeostasis, leading to synergistically enhanced efferocytosis and tissue repair Abstract Mitochondrial dysfunction occurs in macrophages with ...

NuSAP Safeguards Centriole Integrity to Mediate CEP57‐CEP152 Torus Recruitment for Proper Engagement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel role for the microtubule stabilizer NuSAP at centrioles. NuSAP depletion destabilizes the centriole's tubulin structure, causing premature disengagement, PCM defects, and mis‐localization of the CEP57‐CEP63‐CEP152 complex. By reinforcing centriole architecture, NuSAP enables early CEP57 loading and initiates a newly proposed ...

Persistence and tensile strength of incipient rock discontinuities

open access: yes, 2020
Rock discontinuities are fundamentally important to most rock engineering projects but predicting or measuring their properties such as roughness, aperture, shape and extent (persistence) are fraught with difficulty. So far, the solution of how to measure or predict persistence is poorly researched partly because the concept of how to investigate the ...

Curvy Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review introduces the concept of “general curvy surface reconstruction,” which incorporates both geometric and physical dimensions, representing an upgrade over conventional geometric reconstruction that focuses solely on spatial relationships. Particular emphasis is placed on the emerging opportunities enabled by advanced measurement techniques ...

Sulfate‐Directed Silver Dendrites with Enhanced Stability for Ultrasensitive SERS‐Based Therapeutic Drug Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents sulfate‐directed silver dendrites (s‐AgDs) as oxidation‐resistant SERS substrates with long‐term stability, reproducibility, and sub‐picomolar sensitivity. Sulfate ions guide anisotropic growth and protect the surface, enabling improved performance over 7 months under ambient conditions.
