Stability Analysis of Rocky Slopes on the Cuenca–Girón–Pasaje Road, Combining Limit Equilibrium Methods, Kinematics, Empirical Methods, and Photogrammetry

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The 3D point clouds obtained from the low-cost, remote, and precise SfM (Structure from Motion) technique allow the extraction and acquisition of discontinuities and their characteristics both manually, with the compass and virtual ruler of the Cloud ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Continuity and discontinuity of the debate around fascist art in Toti Scialoja’s critical meditation and in the querelle with Renato Guttuso (1944-1947)

open access: yespiano b, 2018
The essay examines the activity of Toti Scialoja as art critic for the review «Mercurio» between 1944 and 1947, when he proceeds to a precocious analysis of the preceding thirty years, looking for an Italian and international line of painting whit a ...

Emergence and Persistence of Collective Cell Migration on Small Circular Micropatterns

open access: yes, 2015
The spontaneous formation of vortices is a hallmark of collective cellular activity. Here, we study the onset and persistence of coherent angular motion (CAMo) as a function of the number of cells $N$ confined in circular micropatterns.

Enhanced Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Carbon Nanotube Fibers via Embedded Sucrose‐Derived Porous Carbon for Mechanoelectrochemical Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sucrose‐derived porous carbon network (SPINE‐C) is formed within CNT fibers via FCCVD, bridging inter‐bundles of CNTs and increasing surface area through introduced microporosity. As a result, both mechanical and electrochemical properties are simultaneously enhanced, leading to a 2.8‐fold increase in the power density of a mechano‐electrochemical ...

Machine learning approaches to predicting no-shows in pediatric medical appointment

open access: yesnpj Digital Medicine, 2022
Patients’ no-shows, scheduled but unattended medical appointments, have a direct negative impact on patients’ health, due to discontinuity of treatment and late presentation to care. They also lead to inefficient use of medical resources in hospitals and

Phase separation in coupled chaotic maps on fractal networks

open access: yes, 2003
The phase ordering dynamics of coupled chaotic maps on fractal networks are investigated. The statistical properties of the systems are characterized by means of the persistence probability of equivalent spin variables that define the phases.

Ultrahigh Strength with Suppressed Flow Instability at Liquid Helium Temperature via Coherent Nanoprecipitation in a Medium‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that severe lattice distortion and coherent nanoprecipitates overcome the strength–ductility dilemma and mitigate discontinuous plastic flow (DPF) at 4.2 K. Such microstructural design enhances both thermal and athermal stress components, leading to exceptional mechanical performance.

Impact of intensive adherence counseling on viral load suppression and mortality among people living with HIV in Kampala, Uganda: A regression discontinuity design.

open access: yesPLOS Global Public Health, 2023
Intensive adherence counseling (IAC) is recommended for people living with HIV (PLHIV) with viral load (VL) ≥1,000 copies/ml after ≥6 months of anti-retroviral therapy (ART).

Comparing rockfall scar volumes and kinematically detachable rock masses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Scenario-based risk assessment for rockfalls, requires assumptions for different scenarios of magnitude (volume). The magnitude of such instabilities is related to the properties of the jointed rock mass, with the characteristics of the existing ...
