Desigualdades persistentes, direitos e democracia contemporânea

open access: yesCiências Sociais Unisinos, 2008
This paper addresses inequalities as historical constructions. It sees the disjunction between inequalities and rights as having continuity and discontinuity in economic, political, and cultural aspects.

Oscilações climáticas em Minas Gerais Climatic oscillations in Minas Gerais state, Brazil

Measuring the Effect of Student Loans on College Persistence

open access: yesEducation Finance and Policy, 2020
Governments around the world use grant and loan programs to ease the financial constraints that contribute to socioeconomic gaps in college completion. A growing body of research assesses the impact of grants; less is known about how loan programs affect

Anti‐Swelling Textile Power Generator with 1D Nanoscale Channel Alignment in Nanofiber/Graphene Hybrid Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanofiber/graphene hybrid yarn with 1D oriented nanoscale channel is constructed via bath electrospinning followed by a functionalization process, yielding exceptional anti‐swelling and weaving abilities. When configured into a waterproof fabric through series‐parallel connection of 62‐cm yarns, an output power of 31.96 µW is achieved, which could ...

Magnetic‐Field Tuning of the Spin Dynamics in the Quasi‐2D Van der Waals Antiferromagnet CuCrP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals 2D character of the spin dynamics in CuCrP2S6, as well as complex field dependence of collective excitations in the antiferromagnetically ordered state. Their remarkable tuning from the antiferromagnetic to the ferromagnetic type with magnetic field, together with the non‐degeneracy of the magnon gaps favorable for the induction of ...

'Eat it again for the first time': Identity in a world of change

open access: yesKoers : Bulletin for Christian Scholarship, 2004
Our everyday experience is well acquainted with the reality of constancy (identity) and change. Persistence over time – continuity – is normally accompanied by an awareness of change – discontinuity.

Ustekinumab dosing, persistence, and discontinuation patterns in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis

open access: yesJournal of Dermatological Treatment, 2014
Ustekinumab is the most recently approved biologic for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Real-world dosing patterns of ustekinumab are yet to be fully characterized.A retrospective, observational study was conducted using MarketScan Commercial and Medicare databases.

Gaussian‐Sigmoid Reinforcement Transistors: Resolving Exploration‐Exploitation Trade‐Off Through Gate Voltage‐Controlled Activation Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The characteristics of a vertical n–p–i–p heterostructure transistor device, which exhibits a voltage‐tunable transition between Gaussian and sigmoid functions, are investigated. The mixed state of the transfer curve enables the utilization of both exploitation and exploration, improving computational performance in reinforcement learning tasks ...

Locking Metastable Topological Domains in Nematic Liquid Crystal Pi Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Selective photopolymerization in the presence of a controlled voltage defines permanent director walls that lock‐in metastable bend and twist configurations within nematic liquid crystal Pi cells. Q‐tensor simulations corroborate the experiments, demonstrating the topological state stabilization.
