[Persistence factors of Helicobacter pylori].

open access: yesZhurnal mikrobiologii, epidemiologii i immunobiologii, 2004
Isolates of H. pylori from patients with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer, were found to be capable of inactivating lysozyme and intercide (the bactericidal component of human leukocytic interferon). The expression and penetration capacity of their antilysozyme activity (ALA) and antiintercide activity was determined.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

New panel tests to assess inflation persistence

open access: yes
In this paper we propose new panel tests to detect changes in persistence. The test statistics are used to test the null hypothesis of stationarity against the alternative of a change in persistence from I(0) to I(1), from I(1) to I(0), and in an unknown

A Case Study: Lived Experiences of First-Time Ever in College African American Male Students

open access: yes, 2020
Community colleges serve a diverse student population. Research studies have indicated that African American males have the lowest persistence rate in colleges. Although there are studies examining the overall persistence rate among African American male

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing: an analysis of the legal, economic and historical factors relevant to its development and persistence
