Persistence and anti-persistence in treadmill walking [PDF]

open access: yesGait & Posture, 2021
Abstract Background Long-range persistent correlations in stride time (ST) and length (SL) are the fundamental traits of treadmill gait. Our recent work showed that the ST and SL time series’ statistical properties originated from the superposition of large-scale trends and small-scale fluctuations ...

Persistent Pandemics

open access: yesEconomics & Human Biology, 2021
We ask whether mortality from historical pandemics has any predictive content for mortality in the Covid-19 pandemic. We find strong persistence in public health performance. Places that performed worse in terms of mortality in the 1918 influenza pandemic also have higher Covid-19 mortality today.

Different aspects of lactation persistency in dairy cows

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2019
Lactation persistency (cow’s ability to maintain milk production after reaching its peak) is a very important economic characteristic in the dairy cattle production system.

Genetic parameters for milk yield and lactation persistency in the three first parities of Iranian Holstein cows

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Ciencias Pecuarias, 2019
Background: Lactation persistency influences cow health and reproduction and has an impact on the feed costs of dairy farms. Objective: To estimate (co)variance components and genetic parameters of 100- and 305-d milk yield, and lactation persistency in ...

PERSISTENCE IN CONVERGENCE [PDF]

open access: yesMacroeconomic Dynamics, 2013
In this paper, we examine the convergence hypothesis using a long memory framework that allows for structural breaks and does not rely on a benchmark country. We find that even though the long memory framework of analysis is much richer than the simple I(1)/I(0) alternative, a simple absolute divergence and rapid convergence dichotomy produced by the ...

Characterisation of the lactation curve of Gyr and Sardo Negro cattle

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2023
The objectives were to characterize the lactation curves (LC) of tropical Gyr and Sardo Negro (SN) cattle from Mexico for the design of breeding and management programs for these breeds.

Utilising commercial farm grass growth data to evaluate long-term dry matter production of perennial ryegrass varieties

open access: yesIrish Journal of Agricultural and Food Research, 2023
Little data are currently available on either the dry matter (DM) production of perennial ryegrass (PRG) swards as they age beyond 5 yr (i.e. permanent pasture) or the performance of PRG varieties on commercial grassland farms.

Zigzag Persistence [PDF]

open access: yesFoundations of Computational Mathematics, 2010
We describe a new methodology for studying persistence of topological features across a family of spaces or point-cloud data sets, called zigzag persistence. Building on classical results about quiver representations, zigzag persistence generalises the highly successful theory of persistent homology and addresses several situations which are not ...

Predictors of Persistent Medically Unexplained Physical Symptoms: Findings From a General Population Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2018
Objective: To explore the persistency of Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS) and its prognostic factors in the general adult population. Knowledge of prognostic factors of MUS may indicate possible avenues for intervention development. Methods: Data were

The effect of breeding region on differences in persistency of heat stress effect in first parity Simmentals [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2019
In order to determine the effect of breeding region on differences in persistency of heat stress effect in first parity Simmentals test-day records provided by the Croatian Agricultural Agency were analysed.
