A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...

Barium stone formation in the vagina of a child with persistent cloaca following a distal colostogram

open access: yes, 2016
Persistent cloaca is a severe form of malformation of the anorectum. A distal colostogram is important in the planning of its treatment. We report herein a case of a girl who had barium stone formation within her vagina following a distal colostogram ...

Thermal Shifts Dominate Single‐Gene Responses to Transcription‐Targeting Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermal shifts reshape bacterial responses to transcription‐targeting antibiotics. In E. coli, temperature can dominate antibiotic‐induced genome‐wide expression, particularly outside 30°C–39°C, through changes in adenosine triphosphate (ATP), nucleoid organization, and drug‐target engagement.

Reflection and hyper-programming in persistent programming systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In an orthogonally persistent programming system, data is treated in a manner independent of its persistence. This gives simpler semantics, allows the programmer to ignore details of long-term data storage and enables type checking protection ...
