An unusual ‘bow tie’ image in pacemaker implantation

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2022
Upper venous system anatomic variations may cause difficulties during cardiac pacemaker implantation. Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) and absent right superior vena cava could be an arrhythmogenic source of atrial arrhythmias and cardiac ...

Maximally Persistent Cycles in Random Geometric Complexes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We initiate the study of persistent homology of random geometric simplicial complexes. Our main interest is in maximally persistent cycles of degree-$k$ in persistent homology, for a either the \cech or the Vietoris--Rips filtration built on a uniform Poisson process of intensity $n$ in the unit cube $[0,1]^d$.

Clinical outcomes of endovascular treatment in hemodialysis patients with central venous stenosis: A retrospective analysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 408-418, June 2025.
Abstract Introduction Endovascular treatment is one of treatment options for hemodialysis patients with central venous stenosis (CVS), but clinical outcomes and risk factors remain inadequately studied. This study seeks to investigate the occurrence and risk factors associated with CVS.

Inability to Utilize Retrograde Cardioplegia due to a Persistent Left Superior Vena Cava

open access: yesCase Reports in Anesthesiology, 2017
A persistent left superior vena cava is a congenital abnormality that affects a minority of the general population. While this finding is not hemodynamically significant in all patients, failure to recognize the altered anatomy in any of these patients ...

Iliocaval Anomaly With Resulting Congestive Nephropathy: A Rare Etiology of Allograft Dysfunction Following Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 4, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Renal allograft dysfunction warrants prompt investigation as the differential diagnosis is often broad. Here, we present a pediatric kidney transplant recipient who experienced suboptimal allograft function due to previously undiagnosed inferior vena cava stenosis with resultant chronic congestive nephropathy.

Decision-based AI Visual Navigation for Cardiac Ultrasounds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Ultrasound imaging of the heart (echocardiography) is widely used to diagnose cardiac diseases. However, obtaining an echocardiogram requires an expert sonographer and a high-quality ultrasound imaging device, which are generally only available in hospitals.

Primary renal well‐differentiated neuroendocrine tumors with lymph node metastasis: A case report and literature review

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 202-205, May 2025.
Introduction Well‐differentiated neuroendocrine tumors of the kidney are rare and generally less aggressive than renal cell carcinoma, although metastasis is still present at the time of diagnosis. Surgical resection remains the preferred treatment, even in cases with lymph node metastases.
