Unlocking Nanoscale Microstructural Detail in Aluminum Alloys Through Differential Phase Contrast Segmentation in STEM

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging in STEM is demonstrated as a rapid, versatile segmentation tool for advanced aluminum alloys. Decomposition of false‐color DPC micrographs resolves nanoclusters, precipitate variants, dislocation strain fields, nanostructures, and grain boundaries ‐ all within a single and fast acquisition.

Seismic Velocity Variations Illustrate Hydrological and Ecohydrological Processes in a Mountain Watershed

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract We employ passive seismic interferometry to study seismic hydrological responses in a snowmelt‐driven, semi‐arid catchment. Seismic velocity changes (dv/v) at 2–4 Hz and 4–8 Hz are analyzed from six stations along a hillslope transect between May and November 2023 and compared to precipitation, soil moisture, and groundwater level timeseries ...

Land subsidence characteristics of Ordos using differential interferometry and persistent scatterer interferometry

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015
Land displacement in Ordos, China, between 8 January 2007 and 19 January 2011 was mapped using L-band ALOS PALSAR data. Twenty ALOS PALSAR scenes acquired were utilised to generate both PSI and DInSAR results. Several locations in the eastern Ordos experiencing rapid land subsidence were identified including Huo Luo Wan coalmine and Qu Jia Liang ...

Interseismic Creep Along the Enriquillo–Plantain Garden Fault, Haiti, Estimated From InSAR

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract The Enriquillo–Plantain Garden fault zone (EPGFZ) is a major left‐lateral strike‐slip fault in southern Haiti hosting several recent destructive earthquakes, including the 2021 MW 7.1 Nippes event with primary thrust‐slip. To investigate how strain is accommodated in the vicinity of the 2021 event, we analyzed Sentinel‐1 interferometric ...

Stimuli‐Responsive Hydrogels for Optical Applications: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
The review discusses stimuli‐responsive hydrogels as soft optical materials that translate physical, chemical, and biological cues into refractive‐index, scattering, birefringence, diffraction, and transparency changes. It examines major stimulus classes and photonic architectures for biosensing, waveguiding, adaptive lenses, smart windows, and therapy.

Soft Ferroelectrics in One Dimension: Ferroelectric Columnar Liquid Crystals

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 91, Issue 6, June 2026.
Helical ferroelectric columnar liquid crystals (FCLCs) confine bistable axial polarization within individual columns. An electric field reversibly flips the macrodipole, enabling two nonvolatile states readable as “0” and “1.” This Cconcept highlights supramolecular locking and helical architectures that deliver genuine switching and long‐lived zero ...
