Femtosecond‐Laser‐Induced Physical Unclonable Random Maze Structure for Storage‐Free Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Femtosecond‐laser‐induced gold random maze structures serve as multimodal physical unclonable functions for storage‐free encryption. Their stochastic optical, electrical, and Raman responses are generated by plasmon‐assisted Marangoni formation and converted into AES‐compatible keys without permanent secret‐key storage, offering a portable route toward

Closed‐Loop Radiative Cooling Mulch Upcycled From Agricultural Residues for Efficient Soil Heat–Water Stress Mitigation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conventional passive radiative cooling films rely on costly feedstocks and energy‐intensive fabrication, with poor end‐of‐life compatibility in agriculture. To address this challenge, a sustainable radiative cooling mulch (SRCM) is developed from waste maize leaves via spontaneous hydrogen‐bond self‐assembly.

Surfaceome Reprogramming of Stemsomes Promotes Lung Cancer Targeting via Potentiated Receptor–Ligand Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a surfaceome‐reprogramming strategy for mutation‐independent lung cancer therapy by repurposing dexamethasone to prime mesenchymal stem cell‐derived nanovesicles. The engineered vesicles leverage multi‐valent interactions mediated by upregulated adhesion proteins, EPHA2, and NOTCH3.

Circulating Amino Acid Network Remodeling Reveals Systemic Metabolic Reprogramming Predictive of Colorectal Cancer Recurrence and Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Blood‐based amino acid patterns measured by 19F NMR reveal hidden metabolic changes in colorectal cancer. By analyzing how these amino acids interact as a network, machine learning models identify patients at higher risk of recurrence and metastasis.

Intrinsic Coupling of Radiative Cooling and Triboelectric Responses in Dual‐Function ZrO2 Nanocomposites for Adaptive Thermoregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel nanocomposite design strategy utilizes ZrO2 to intrinsically couple passive daytime radiative cooling and triboelectric functionality within a single material platform. Fabricated via direct ink writing, the multifunctional breathable architecture provides effective sub‐ambient cooling, motion‐driven energy harvesting, and adaptive ...

Naming Names: Kinship, Individuality and Personal Names

open access: yesSociology, 2008
The article presents an exploratory analysis of the significance of personal names in contemporary Western societies, the UK in particular. Names are seen as hav-ing the dual character of denoting the individuality of the person, and also mark-ing social

Personal Names

Science, Technology, & Human Values, 2014
Because they are right under our nose, taken-for-granted, and essential to every person everywhere, personal names have often eluded the theoretical and analytical scrutiny they deserve. To what extent do naming practices exemplify or parallel the biopolitics of bodily inscriptions and markings such as tattoos, birthmarks, and presumed racial ...

Personal Names and Name Changes

Journal of Black Studies, 1995
The subject of personal names, when approached from an academic point of view, has attracted the attention of a variety of disciplines. The psychologist (Drury & McCarthy, 1980; Marcus, 1976; Rickel & Anderson, 1981; Strumpfer, 1978) is interested in names because names often affect a person's identity; the sociologist (Besnard, 1979; Zweigenhaft, 1981)
