Sources of Segregation in Social Networks: A Novel Approach Using Facebook [PDF]
Most research on segregation in social networks considers small circles of strong ties, and little is known about segregation among the much larger number of weaker ties. This article proposes a novel approach to the study of these more extended networks,

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Revisiting the culture–social structure duality debate through the lens of personal networks
In this article, we address a long-standing debate in social science about whether culture or social structure provides the best lens for understanding human behavior and how that scales to the level of social institutions.

We present a scalable EC/TC hybrid smart window using a DCPE that enables tunable solar modulation (ΔTsol:15–43%), fast electrochromic switching (<90 s), and strong thermal blocking (10–14°C reduction). HPMC improves thermal stability, while an optimized ISL enhances EC performance.
