A personal computer approach to overcurrent protective device coordination

open access: closedIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1988
The personal computer offers several advantages over both manual methods and shared-computer methods for overcurrent protective device coordination. The fast graphics display of a personal computer makes it possible to achieve a practical replacement for the light table. A computerized approach to overcurrent protective device coordination is presented.

Personal respiratory protective devices: efficacy of Millipore and Whatman filters.

open access: closedJournal of the Medical Association of Thailand = Chotmaihet thangphaet, 2000
A Millipore filter with 0.22 micron pore size and a Whatman grade 1 filter with > 11 microns particle retention were used to capture laser smoke particle mimic atmospheric suspended particulate matter. The experiment was conducted at the Department of Otolaryngology in Ramathibodi Hospital from April 1996 to October 1997.

Personal Aerosol Protection Devices

The Nurse Practitioner, 1995
The increased incidence of violence in our society has led to a concern for personal safety. For self-protection, many individuals are turning to personal aerosol protection devices (PAPDs), which are readily accessible to the general public. The greater use and misuse of these noxious chemicals has led to an increase in injuries associated with ...

Usage of personal protective devices among Egyptian industrial workers

American Journal of Industrial Medicine, 1988
AbstractA systematic random sample of 405 workers from metal, asbestos cement pipes, textile, and viscose rayon industries were interviewed using a prepared and tested questionnaire. Personal Protective Devices (PPDs), namely goggles, gloves, respirators, and ear defenders, had been distributed to all workers on the payroll and were used by 31.4 ...

Safety device for protecting persons against falling injuries

2017 IEEE 23rd International Symposium for Design and Technology in Electronic Packaging (SIITME), 2017
This paper presents an attempt to create a protecting costume for vulnerable people. The device that acts upon inflating the costume is based on an accelerometer, and all the data is processed by an Arduino microcontroller. The code is written in Arduino IDE.

Personal attenuation ratings versus derated noise reduction ratings for hearing protection devices

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2022
National and international regulatory and consensus standards setting bodies have previously proposed derating hearing protector ratings to provide a better match between ratings determined in a laboratory and the real-world measurements of attenuation for workers. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has proposed a derating scheme

[Infection risk and personal protective devices].

Giornale italiano di nefrologia : organo ufficiale della Societa italiana di nefrologia, 2005
The Aa discuss the evidence and recommendations for the use of personal protective equipment by health care practitioners in general care settings; the use of aprons, gowns, gloves, eye protections, face masks is valutated on the basis of an assessment of the risk of transmission of microrganisms to the patient or from the patient to health care ...

[Adequacy of personal hearing protection devices].

Giornale italiano di medicina del lavoro ed ergonomia, 2011
At present, attenuation values reported on the hearing protection device (HPD) label are strongly overestimated due to an evaluation method inappropriate for the environments in which they have to be used: the workplaces. An alternative test protocol was validated and published as standard.
